But its listed without a title and in pretty rough shape. No idea what the current owners plans are but if 312 pops up for sale again it could be a clone since this one didnt have a title.

This isn't much of a project thread as the car runs an drive. Just keeping up with the progress and improvement I made to it.

Carroll Shelby inspired car. GLH stands for Goes Like Hell.

Goal for this car is for it to be a nice comfortable daily driver with a/c and somewhat good gas mileage. Looks isn't an requirement. It weights 2500lbs with a driver, ran a best of 14.5 at 97mph at only 12 psi. The setup should be good for around 24 psi with pump gas. 2.5L with a T04E 50 trim and Cosworth .48 turbine housing. Positive boost pressure comes in around 1700rpm, spool faster than my 850 with a 15G!

Reason why the intercooler is in the front is due to I want to have a/c. There is just no space inside the engine compartment for an intercooler, with the a/c condenser. And yes, I got many questions regarding to what it is, and lots of stares.

Not going to paint the intercooler black, nor make grille for it. No point, paint on the rest of the car looks like crap anyways. Beside, the intercooler sticks too far out.

Large spline clutch question

I am throwing a 5spd (93 A523 large spline) in my 89 caravan and I went to order a clutch kit and to my surprise there is a different part number...

I am throwing a 5spd (93 A523 large spline) in my 89 caravan and I went to order a clutch kit and to my surprise there is a different part number listed for a 91 caravan and a 91 spirit R/T. Both are for a large spline trans ( all specs listed are the same) . I am assuming the R/T one must have a stronger pressure plate. Is there any reason why I cant use R/T number? I thought they were interchangeable but it surprised me the aftermarket still makes 2 different clutches, I would have figured they would have had one. Also since this trans is from a 93 daytona I am guessing it may have had the modular clutch assembly, if it did, is there anything that would prevent me from using an earlier flywheel ( 8 bolt) and a large spline clutch? Sorry if these are dumb questions, everything else I own, rebuilt, or swapped was small spline.

Thanks,

Justin

I was offered the job of doing a 'front end overhaul' on a ~roughly 88'ish~ era D-150. Just hearing it 3rd party right now so no idea how extensive we are talking on doing things. I just finished up doing the front end on my 79 B-van tuesday and while nothing was beyond my capabilities it was more involved than I thought it would be going into it. I know the basic steering and front suspension setup between the van and truck lines is similar in layout/theory of operation but not the same. I am going to talk directly w/owner and see what he wants done and certainly give the truck an inspection to see how rusty/frozen everything is before talking any timeframe/price.

Are there any 'gotcha's' on the trucks to watch out for/be aware of ? say like certain bolts/components that like to snap off/strip out and make for a nightmare to repair ? Van went easy because I sprayed everything down with penetrating oil on a daily basis for 2 months before tearing into it. Dont have that option here.

As above, wtb or "core lease" a pair of 6g72 cyl heads, for a project. There is currently an R&D project in the works for the 3.0 community, and I cannot afford the down-time on my 3.0 test mule (93 caravan c/v)

I'm on a budget of course and if needed we can work out a "core lease", so you would get my heads back.
I'm open to any untouched heads whether bare, or with covers.

PM me, thanks

SRT block, possible new starter options?????

I have been doing quite a bit of research on other starter options when using a SRT block. Has anyone ever tried to use a 3.0 or 3.3 starter? I am asking because I borrowed a new 3.3 ND starter and IIRC 2 of the bolts lined up when I installed it as well as the nose. It cleared the oil drain except for the motor stud. It also has 10 teeth vs 9 on the bosch and 11 on the 2.2 ND. I didnt pay very close attention to the starter gear offset. I know the 9 tooth bosch is centered and the 2.2 ND is offset due to more teeth. Since it was new and I dont have a crank and flwheel I couldnt try it and I didnt think it would work due to it having 10 teeth. Well after doing more research the 3.0 and 3.3 use the same diameter flexplate / flywheel and have the same teeth number and pitch which means they should mesh correctly. Also since the nose of the starter slides into the hole on the trans it "should" line up. I also learned that there were 2 different versions atleast of the 3.0 ND starter and short and long version. The long version, I am guessing is the same length as the 2.2 starter and if that is the case, the entire starter should clear everything without any grinding to the block or starter. I also tried a 2.4 ND starter which is the newer shorter version. the 2 bolt holes line up and its 9 teeth but the pitch is different. I am going to try to grab a 3.0 and 3.3 starter next time I am at the yard and see if it all lines up. Its a long shot but if it does work it beats modifying the block and or starter. If anyone has ever tried something like this or has anything to add let me know. As for mixing parts, when I did a cummins swap in a friends F150 I used a dodge flywheel and a ford 6.0 diesel starter and the combo works fine.
