The car was picked up in St. Petersburg, FL in Dec. of '05. It started life as a very stock 2.5 Turbo I/5 speed '91 Daytona Shelby. It only had 64k on it at the time and hasn't got to 67k as of yet. The car is a factory sunroof car and came with light gray interior. The car was 95% rust free and that 5% was in the spare tire well. The factory paint was very faded and the interior was very faded and cracked from the Fl sun from sitting outside its whole life. So, he decided to spruce it up a little....
I started tearing into it and before I was done everything was off but the fenders and the suspension so it still rolled around. I then took it to a guy I knew from our racetrack that has an autobody shop to have it re-painted. Well he did everything inside and out except for the underbody. Got the car home and come to find out it was a single-stage eurothane job. I was very pissed and haven't talked to the guy since. The car sat in the corner of my shop with a cover on it for about a 8 months before I could even look at it again. In that time a picked up a wrecked 91 Spirit R/T for the drivetrain and got that ready to transplant. I also picked up one of the most sought after piece in Shelby Dodge history, the pre-production Shelby 16V cover. I also picked up a complete set of mint black power enthusiast cloth seats for the interior swap. I collected as many new or mint parts as I could to put this thing back together with. I don't even wanna know how much I spent in money and hours on this car. At the time of these pictures it has been put together enough to be driveable for a little fun this past summer. Sad to say its already back apart for a real paint job this time around and even more perfect parts I have been collecting. I have a friend that has done some jobs for companies that have had show cars at SEMA the last few years on the job this time. So, lets just say it will be the closest thing to perfect as possible. The underbody will be base-cleared this time around so I will not be driving it except for nice sunny days on very clean roads. Every part that can be taken off has been either painted perfectly, powder-coated, or plated. Every fastener is either aftermarket S/S or plated in white zinc. I am finishing powdercoating the rear suspension and the gas tank and the fuel and brake lines here in the next few months to come. I am also finishing the engine compartment off with freshly powdercoated A/C lines and compressor and making a cool polished intake pipe that runs over by where the ABS box would be. It will have a stainless "box" welded to it where the airbox would be so my NOS snorkel will clip into it like factory. I could go on all night about what I have done to this car and the pics of it really don't show much of the real detail. I plan to have it at 08 Carlisle if anyone going would like to see it in person.

Rebuilt stock 568 with new fork pads and seals and drilled for crank sensor
