getting a 88 Shadow tomorrow and it is getting a heartransplant, I will need to install a larger IC for what I want so I was wondering what everybody has fit into a P-body

pictures or links would be nice and the size of your cooler would be great.

just trying to get an idea what I can stuff in it, my daytona has a cummins IC stuffed under the nose but I am selling it to make room for this shadow.

put the cummins in the shadow. IT fits oh so sweet. Like it should of been in there from the factory.

Also search google for "cummins intercooler install" there's a 50 megs page out there with more pics.

I have a Spearco in my CSXT (P-body) It has the inlet/outlet on the same side. Do a search for a thread called Pics of CSXT and you can see the piping.

I had an NPR in my CSX-T. Unfortunately I don't have any really detailed photos, but the install was suprisingly easy with some strips of aluminum, a bench vise, a hammer, and a drill. I used an Omni radiator wich fit beautifully between the outlets on the IC. I bolted a strip of aluminum from Menard's across the tabs where the factory radiator went, and drilled new holes for the Omni radiator mounts. For the top mounts on the IC and the Radiator I bent some of the aluminum to 90^ angles and bolted it to the radiator support, and then did the same more or less for the bottom mounts on the IC. Wish I had some more pics for better explaination, but you might get the gist of it.

The piping was made from some 2.5" exhaust bends from the parts store except the one closest to the battery which is an aluminum piece I robbed off of a junked Saab Turbo. The hoses on the IC are 2.5" radiator hose from the parts store, and the rest are factory TII hoses. The sheet over the radiator I made from sheet aluminum to cover the gap between it and the IC for airflow and to clean the whole thing up a bit. I also made ducting the same way around the radiator support.

And I swear, it looks dirtier than it actually was. Must have been the lighting or something.

too much hassle besides the headlights in the daytona are permanetly stuck up now because it's the medium sized cummins not the smaller one with 2.5" inlet but not the 4ft tall one. and the whole nose has to come off there are brackets that have to be taken off (you get the picture) and the car has a TU cal dyno tuned with the setup so I won't screw the next owner by taking it out.

ahh I see. Ok find the 93 and earlier one and drop that in the shadow. I can have one installed in less than 3 hours. It really is meant for a shadow I think.

By far the best NPR installation I have seen. (or cummings for that matter)

Is that the large NPR? It looks a tad shorter than mine in my Shadow's mockup.

I should have thought about an upside down install... makes things MUCH easier from what I can see. I had to notch the grill/headlight brackets, renove the brace, trim this and that to make it fit snug up tight just below the latch as I wanted a large portion of the cooler to get airflow, not being blocked by the bumper. Your way seems so much easier, though.

You talkin to me? haha.. thats a mishimoto i/c.. but I think they are similar in dimensions to the large NPR. There was no way I couldve run it flipped around without doing some serious headlight work. The holes I cut are visible in the pic of the front of the car on jackstands. Otherwise... bracketry was pretty simple as you can see and the hood latch is very strong as it actually uses the intercooler as a part of the support

I thought the cooler looked different than my large NPR... I notice the outlets now. No wonder I couldn't run mine inverted. I remember trying it but because of it's height, I would only be able to run the outlets under the radiator support/frame and I didn't like the idea of the tubes that far under the car. But your's looks great. What is that cooler from, one of those Mitsu /Isuzu NPR looking trucks we all see running around town as well?

Its an aftermarket piece.. I purchased it from here:

They pop on ebay for a bit cheaper now and then, also

No pictures to share since I haven't actually done this yet, but I'm already planning the (eventual) IC upgrade in my '87 CSX. I have two Thunderbird turbo ICs. My plan is to mount them side-by-side behind the hole in the airdam and plumb them in with y-pipes; the piping will be routed through the space which is currently occupied by the stock IC. I also intend to add a little shrouding so as to force all the air which enters the airdam hole to then travel through the IC cores.

I know this is just an idea at the moment, but I've poked and prodded around the nose of my car and it looks like it ought to work. HTH.
