I need a set of tires for my SC and was wondering if anyone had some recommendations. Theses would be for street use. The ones that are on there now spin when I floor it in first, second, or third gear. Although it is fun to be able to light up you tires at 50 mph, I think it would be even more fun to have traction. Does anyone know anything about these?

The Ecsta AST is a good, inexpensive all-season performance tire. Are you planning on driving this car in the snow, or putting alot of miles on it? If not, I would go with a 3 season tire... something a bit softer for more bite, like a Ecsta MX!

I like the Hankook K104, good tire & inexpensive.
Our local touring car series uses them & the lap times are very close to that of an R compound tire.

What about the SPT.

Here is the MX

the spt would be $264 for 4
and the mx would be $322
we could tell you good tires but without knowing what you have its hard to say how much of an improvement it would be.
what are the specifics of the tires you have? size and make/model.
i have some dunlop direzzas on my aries and it will burn through 1st from a roll with the tbi/555 so i cant say those would help you much. i like them for what they cost. i have other tires on other cars but way different sizes so hard to compare traction.

I just put Kumho Ecsta AST on my GLH Turbo a couple weeks ago! I went with the stock 195/50/15 size. $206 shipped from the tirerack.com!
So far I really like them. They seem great in the dry and wet....but obviously not so good on snow and ice but MUCH better than the Kumho 711 I replaced. I'm hoping these AST will last longer. They seem like a great tire for the price. It still spins them into second gear with 10 psi boost, but I have a mildly modded 2.5L in the Omni so...but honestly I am impressed with the traction capabilty for the price.

You want the biggest size tires you can fit without rubbing.

Scott,
At your power level, just go drag radials. Air them up for the street, 13 psi for the track (straight from BFG's engineer) I will be coming up with 225's all the way around.

How many miles are you guys getting out of the g-force DRs?

I tried drag radials at the track and they just could not hold the power. I have full slicks for the track I just need something to get me around the street. Actually, I spin my slicks through first gear at the track.:D

I agree with Ken... buy the tire to suit your needs. My next set will be 225/50/15 DR's up front, and some other sort of 225/50/15 on the rear, probably a G-force Sport.
