View Full Version : Turbovanman (or anyone else who knows) - 60mm minivan calipers on 10" rotors - how?

OK, I need more pedal travel with my manual brake conversion. I got a set of 60mm minivan calipers and a 21mm master cylinder. The M/C is a bolt-on. But, the 60mm minivan calipers won't bolt onto the brackets on my Daytona (brackets are too small). I'm running base model 10" rotors (so that I can fit my 14" wheels). I do NOT want to "upgrade" to 11" disks. This is a track car only. I care more about weight and being able to brake torque the car (which I can't do right now) than how quickly I can bring it to a stop at the end of the track.

There's good info out there about putting 11" brakes on just about everything, but nothing about just using the bigger bore calipers with 10" brakes.

So, which caliper brackets do I need? And, does anyone have a pair they'd part with?

Check your PM, :thumb:

I just checked my Daytona, you just need the brackets off the Minivan and your good to go.

Simon is right. You need the matching 1 pin adapter brackets. For those guys out there that are only 10":D here is your info. http://www.xmission.com/~dempsey/shelby/slhpkgs.htm

11" here baby cause size does matter! :thumb: :eyebrows:

Yes, size does matter. But, in my case, I want more tires than brakes!

Thanks for the info...

hehe, was just a joke :) For a drag only car I'd stick with the 10's as well. The 11"s killed my 60ft by a tenth. But are worth it to me as I need to be able to hit the brakes hard and have the car stop on a dime and give you 9 cents change.

*cough cough* budget 4 pistons calipers what.... *cough cough* I was going to suggest you use the omni calipers and brakes from a 13 inch wheel car... but then I saw the manual brakes and was like... bad idea

Yeah, I need the 60mm calipers for sure. I can stop the car just fine as it is, but I can't generate enough brake torque to keep the car from rolling at anythign higher than ~2k RPM and no boost. I think that's really limiting my 60' times right now...

but yeah it's just a matter of using the minivan brackets I did the upgrade on my daytona and it's way better even without vacuum to the m/c... blew the line off driving once or twice lol

FWIW my 93 dynasty had KH 60mm calipers on the 10.25" rotor and came with 14" wheels. I havent compared the pad area between dynasty/minivan (assuming they are the same because i already have upgraded all the brakes i intend to and not doing further research now). However the caliper bracket bolt pattern changed in 91 i think with the other suspension updates and so those brakes cant just be swapped onto an older spindle regardless of caliper bracket. 91-up spindles are a worthwhile upgrade imo if you have a parts car or otherwise get them cheap or free because of the bolt in wheel bearings, bottom slightly longer to help control arm angle (helps if lowered).

/random info. :)

^^^^^^to do that swap you need to change out the K-member, its alot more than just changing knuckles. Also, the cast arms are heavier so running the early style is better for drag racing.

Just for future reference, has anyone tried to put 13" wheels over the 10" rotors" Will they fit? Not that I have (or can afford) 13" racing wheels, but it'd be good to know if they fit...

my 91 dynasty had 60mm calipers w/ 10-1/4 rotors along with a 24mm m/c. great upgrade on anything less than a shelby/rt brake equipped cars.
