My brother just picked up SL #794 and we're putting new tires on it, will 215/60/15's fit without rubbing?

Congrats on the acqusition! I too picked an SL recently (#63).

The 215 will be roughly 1/2" larger in diameter, and 1/2" wider...I wouldn't think this would cause a problem on an H body. That being said, each manufacturer will have different specs for a given size, so check websites for exact specs. Personally, I plan to go to a 225/50 on the CSS wheels when I wear out the 205's the car came with (will likely sell them, as they have tons of tread, and I'm anxious to get the larger size on there!).

Why bigger?? The car will handle well enough to get you arrested in all 50 states as is. My 87 GTS rubs slightly on lock on the right with the quick ratio sport suspension and stock size. Another potential problem is trouble with wheel weights interfering with the bead sealing on Goodrich tires. (stock size) I would put the extra money into struts and poly bushings.
