Is there a cheap substitute for a two piece intake's fuel rail? Can you modify a one piece fuel rail? Thanks.

Kevin,

I think folks have said you could modify a LOG intake rail... not sure though

Hmm, let me think. I think I can scrounge up one or 12 of those. :)

I have seen a stratus fuel rail modified to fit a two piece. It wouldn't be cheap to buy, but you could make it if you can weld or have acess to a welder.

My Turbo specialist told me that there is no sustitute. You have to have a fuel rail for a 2 piece. The pressure regulator looks like an early 1 piece unit, it lacks the screwed in line, just has a nipple.

With them right there, sitting one on the 2 piece should make it simple to see... If so... That's one great FAQ because 2 piece rails are impossible to find

Is it aluminum? I can't weld aluminum. Heck, I'm having a hard time typing aluminum. It's the hardest word to type fast. :o

It may be, I am not sure. I just saw it on the guys car. It will flow more than you would ever need though. Thats for sure.

I want cheap. This is for my new car. I'm wanting to see how fast I can go with a stock setup on my new car.

I'm going to try the log rail first. If that don't work, I'll make something. :p

Let us know how that works out, :eyebrows:

It will be a while. I gotta go get the Shelby Charger in a couple weeks. I'll grab the fuel rail and compare it to the one in my GLHS. Of course, I have to drive all over the place to do this. Man, this apartment life with my cars in 3 locations stinks. :(

I was running a modified log rail on one of my cars a while back. Flows a lot better than the stocker too if you hog it out. I can take pictures if you'd like.

Neon rails can also be modified. A friend of mine did that on his car.

What year Neon? Thanks for the replies.

I'd have to ask him.

Let me know if you want to see the pics of the log rail. I'm about to head out to work on my car in a few.

Tomorrow or Thursday I can get pictures to compare all 4 fuel rails...Log, 1-piece, 2-piece, and 1g neon (if I can get ahold of Dave). I've got all of them lying around (well, except for the neon, but the guy with the garage next to me has about 100 of them).

I'm interested in this also, because I either have to modify one or repair my 2 piece fuel rail to get it to work. I like this thread.

Finally took some pictures of the modified log rail. They can be seen here:

Kevin,

If you want a REAL two-piece fuel rail, and you are willing to take a ported two-piece manifold as well, then we can work something out. ;)

Drop me a PM.

Mario, was that rail just hallowed out, and then AN fittings were welded to it? That looks like a darn good contraption for someone on a budget.

That, and a I believe the mounting brackets were modified. All I know is that it's a kick --- fuel system set-up. :) Maybe Russ Jerome can chime in as he knows about this rail. :D

What's your mailing address? I got a polished neon rail I got for free from a buddy, which is of no use to me, wanna try it out?

FYI, I just compared it to the stock two piece fuel rail, all you'd have to do is bend out the mounting tabs on a vice, the mounting tabs are in the right spot. So bend the tabs and redrill, the You'll have to run the T1 regulator as the neon rail has no regulator. It only has a one port so you'll have to take the fuel pressure regulator test port for a return line. It's all yours if you want it

I'll keep that in mind if the deal I'm working on doesn't pan out. :)
