I was wondering if anyone can tell me how universal clock springs are?

Can I grab one out of a different Chrysler vehicle to use in my Neon? I want the ability to wire a heated steering wheel in. So I was hoping I could use one from a factory equipped vehicle.

I think all that changes are the connectors from model to model and the steering wheel mounted radio control connectors.

But a heated steering wheel? From what? Neon heaters rock as they are, why not tough it out like every other Canadian and buy gloves.

Also, I don't think the tiny wires could flow enough currect for a heating element without burning up. THEN you'll have heat.

That's why I'd use one from a car that came with a heated steering wheel. It'll obviously handle the current.

The only places I really feel the cold, are my feet and hands. Winter shoes take care of the feet. But gloves get in the way when I'm making change while delivering pizza 10 hours a night.

YOu have to be very carefull, they are model specific, screw it up and you could pop your air bag at the wrong time.

Or more importantly, not pop when you need it.
What model came with a heated steering wheel?

It seems no Chrysler cars came with heated wheels. Not a top Jeep, and not a 300C. Oh well, this project is going aside. Gonna take alot of effort to put another brand column in the car.

It says at the bottom for golf carts only. The steering wheel on a golf cart doesn't make more than about a 180 degree sweep (give or take).

Few companys offer this. I believe Mercedes does, most Japanese companies, and Cadillac. There could be more...

the rest of the thought process....
as stated above ..due to safety issues
I was just thinking something to heat the wheel

Well I found this:

You'll notice it disconnects from the wiring.
I've pulled it apart to get at the inner lining which is a piece of felt with heating wire zigzaging across it. I'm going to put that on, then cover it with a premium wheel cover. The leather ones that you stitch up yourself. The plug will be behind one of the spokes, so I'll be able to heat the wheel up while I let the engine warm up for a minute or two.

Nice! where'd you pick that up at?

I'd wouldn't mind toughing it out.. but considering it's been -4 F here lately.. no thanks. My hands get cold easy even in leather gloves at that temp.
