Been driving the Daytona around a bit. I had to wrap the down pipe in header wrap, as it was an automatic car and had no heat shield in the front of the tunnel. I keep smelling this weird oder when it is hot that I can't identify. I don't know how else to describe it except that it smells a bit like a bagel that's been in the toaster too long. Anyone know what I mean?

Yeah that crap stinks for a while till it is used for a while... thought my sh!t was on fire first time I used it.

Yeah, ditto. It was smoking pretty good on that first trip.

Yeah, it's pretty much done. Still some trim missing on the outside and I have the throttle cable attached with tie wraps, but it works. Running the bone stock T2 cal just to reduce variables. The Super 70 spools pretty good and holy crap, this intercooler frickin rocks. My intake temps were 57 degrees on the way to work.

The thing is you will get to relive that burnt smell all over again the first time you drive in the rain and the DP gets all soaked. I wrapped a set of headers on my sportbike and it took a couple months for the scent to completely dissapate. Wish mine smelled like burning Bagels, it was more like burning hair smell:yuck:

Yeah, it's starting to lean towards a more burnt hair/plastic smell now. Joy.

A thin coating of cream cheese spread on the intake goes nicely with that burning bagel smell...

Sounds like you just need a place for the coffee pot and baked beans, then you've got the makings of a nice Chuck Wagon there Russ.

Hehe, yeah it did a bit when I arrived at the meeting, but it wasn't much. Alan was right in that it stank pretty bad on Friday when it was pouring out on the way home.

I did not notice any smell from Russ's car either. It did sound good though

Bumped it up to 18psi today. Doesn't quite spin em in 3rd yet, but 2nd is a lost cause. With the grainger, this thing spools like a stock Garrett though it doesn't hit like a hammer. Comes on smoother.

Been turning it up slowly, but the car's like: "Oh, I'm ready for it...come on bring it!"

I started over with this car, as I didn't want to inherit any issues I may have introduced on the CSX cal. It's the basic Blueberry cal and I have the fuel pressure turned down so my +40s look like +20s. All I have done so far is tweak the pump efficientcy table to compensate for the head and intake/exhaust manifolds. I think i have it pretty flat now, but I need to check the autotune values.

Heh...yeah it's pretty dumb but really catchy. While trying to get this car finished, I was listening to Channel X on 1.fm for the past couple of weeks out in the garage. This song was in the rotation and I'd find myself saying at the end of a song: "I got an itch...and the only cure...is some Snakes On A Plane!"

I saw the video on Fuse a week or so ago. The girl is "hot" but anyway...

What type of wrap did you use? and how did you secure it? Safety wire?

It's the Thermo-Tec 2" stuff. I used SS worm gear clamps at each end. They have these little SS bands that you are supposed to use.
