View Full Version : Changing clutch in a Consulier GTP

A couple of you said the clutch can be changed without pulling the engine.
Looking at the car with it on the lift....looks tight. Only 2-1/4 inches from diff to the metal engine cradle.
How did you do it?
Spin the trans so the diff is moved up?

To keep this out in the open for current or future owners:
When I did mine I had to pull the drivers side suspension ( upper rocker arm, coilover and hub ) from there you can get the transmission rolled enough to get through the subframe enough to get the space you need.
Now when I say "space you need" I did have to cut down the clutch alignment tool to get it in there and had just enough room for the torque wrench.

It's doable but not fun or easy.
Later cars have a sectioned lower driver subframe for this very reason. I used measurements taken by some of the guys to section mine the way the factory did.
