So, I have NEVER liked the Rear ABS (RABS) on Dodge trucks. No matter if it was a Dakota or a Ram 4WD or 2WD...the RABS system SUCKS! I feel like that system has caused me to have 2 rear-end wrecks now because the d@mn truck just doesn't stop! The system senses the rear tires locking, then it let's up on ALL of the brakes and it feels like the truck is on ice and no amount of extra pedal pressure helps. I have upgraded the pads, rotors, suspension, and tires to try and help, but last night proved that it really didn't. I am SO mad  .

So, has anyone had a 4-wheel ABS 2nd gen Ram (4WABS), and how does that system compare to the RABS? If it's better and doesn't make the truck feel like it's on ice, I might look into installing it.

Which brings me to my next question. A quick search for this didn't yield any real information, but has anyone put 4WABS on a truck that originally had RABS?

go find a nice safe spot you can get up to speed then kick the brake pedal as hard and fast as you can
you'll find you should be able to stand on the grille ...ALMOST

I had a '90 t-bird super coupe
the abs would let it roll through an intersection in light snow

when you stomp the brakes you can feel a normal brake grab just before the abs starts clicking away..
stomping the stop pedal as fast and as many times as possible GETS YOU the initial hit from the brakes ..again and again

but ya gotta kick at it like ya want it dead

I would just disable it if you don't like it. I'm pretty sure my 96 ram has rwabs but it's never been an issue.
