Saw a mini today parked across the street from my house and had a great idea!:eyebrows: Thanks for any info!

Mini turbo was 89-90. Just a 4cyl mini, I think just about every year had an NA 4cyl. 5speeds in a mini, yes, rare option to find, but they are out there. thedodgegarage has a how to on converting to 5speed. Hybrid mini never ;)... Yeah I think there are a couple around. ucku even put a masi motor in one :)

What he said. 88 and older got the 2.6L Mitsu engine, 2.2/2.5 and 3.0L V6, 89 and up got the TBI 2.5L, V6's and of course 89-90 got the turbo. 90 Mini has the 568 5spd, the best one to get and SBEC computer, 89 and older got the SMEC. I have a factory 90 speed, :partywoot:

Theres not many 16 valve Mini's, Whywoody on TD has a 2.5 Neon head, theres a Masi engine one and one 2.2 TIII. There might be more but thats all I know about. Mine will be a 2.5 TIII next spring. Finally got all the parts rounded up except pistons. :thumb:

I suppose you just can't swap in a 2.5 tII into a v6 mini?

Great info guys thanks! I'll be on the lookout!

There's a factory `89 2.5TI/a555 Caravan in the local yard. 415,000 kms on it though! hahaha

Yep, drop right in, 1st and 2nd Gen. You can even use the V6 left and right mounts but you need the 4 cylinder front mount. You also need the 4 cyl tranny and wiring harness. No such thing as a 2.5L TII unless you make it. Axles will be ok too. 89-90 is the best years as the wiring harness is mostly plug and play. 2nd Gen, you need a custom harness and you will loose some of your dash functions.

the 96-02 mini comes w/ a 2.4 and 3spd auto. it would be easy to add srt internals+turbo, build the trans, and add megasquirt

If my current van gets written off, thats what I will be doing, :partywoot:

just pistons and rods which can be had from the dealer for ~$280 a set

but you can also swap over the oiling system and pan if you wish also the water pump(has to be all together)

Curt.

I have been running my '89 almost daily for just over a year now,and it was converted to a '90 523 5sp a year before that.
I have recently switched to a 3 bar map and socketed smec, and run around at 18psi,big intercooler and holset hy35 turbo.:eyebrows:
