It's gonna explode.

It's made for n/a car with very low fuel pressure.

+1 that thing would be very bad news sooner or later.

And you need 5/16 line.

If you want to upgrade, your looking for a metal one, search System1. I found one on Ebay, just need to install it one day.

I'm switching to 3/8" line, so I'm looking for a barbed-ends 3/8" fuel filter. System1 only shows a 5/16" on their website. Anywhere else I can get a filter?

What about this one:

5th one down:

Looks good but is it reusable? I wouldn't pay that for a throw away filter. System 1 should make them, the one I got I am just putting 5/16 ends on it.

I use the Mallory 3160 which has a 5 micron cartridge. Summit has them.

Thanks, but the Mallory is a little out of my price range. I can't find a 3/8" System1 filter anywhere. I guess I could run 3/8" line all the way up to the rail, but neck it down to 5/16 right before the rail and put a 5/16" filter right before the rail.

This one says designed for carburetors, but still handles 100 psi and filters to 5 microns:

100 psi is not high enough, the 255's can get over that. You need at least a 125 psi filter.

true, but do you run it that high? ;)

most guys are around 50 -> 60 psi, so I dont think 100 PSI would be an issue unless the regulator failed. Even then I bet the pump would die from dead heading before the filter would rupture.

Gus used the Fram cartridge filter (FRM-HPG1) which says "for carburetors only" but was rated to 200 psi in the old catalogs. Now they rate it at 15 psi!? The Summit version of the same filter is cheaper (SUM-G1501). But, they may have changed the manufacturing of these filters and might not be the same as before.

No, but if it deadheads, it will easily reach that and more. Whats that old saying, better safe than sorry? :eyebrows: I should post pics of Bryans car but I won't.

The older Fords fuel regs were notorious for failing, customers would drive around for months and longer on a deadheaded pump. They can last along time at full output.

What about finding a filter that fits a MPI car or truck that has 3/8" line going in and out. A few minutes digging at the parts store could probably get you set up with something for around $10-15. Won't be as cool looking as the aftermarket ones but it should do the job.

Didn't the '84 turbo Daytona's and Lasers have a 3/8 in/out fuel filter?

What is the stock filter rated at? To expand on this topic, if I wanted to do an inline FPgauge under hood would one from 0-100psi be ok?

A 100 psi guage is fine, if it ever goes over, the needle will keep moving, lol!

That would be exactly what I'm looking for, but I don't think any fuel injected car came from the factory with a 3/8" fuel line. Especially one with an inline filter and hose barb ends.
