The positive lead that goes to the coil is spliced AFTER another splice on a wire that comes from the SMEC on an 89 harness out of a Daytona. My question is, can you splice this wire anywhere in the path of this wire coming from the SMEC or does it HAVE to be at the second splice? I mean, will it affect voltage or anything else? It ends up being a wire that leads to the fuel rail harness, but then goes to the coil.

I'm not sure I understand what you're wanting to do, but as far as voltage goes, I'm pretty sure our systems don't use a ballast resistor. That said, the voltage should be the same anywhere you tap into the wire.
