I'm in the process of installing a Provent 200 to hopefully catching ALL the oil from the crank case. My modified oil catch can with wire mesh inside didn't catch enough oil.

Provent 200 is rated for 335hp.

Provent 200 ports are 1 inch OD, I had to buy adapters (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Provent-200-Reducer-Adaptor-16mm-Mann-Hummel-Catch-Can-Toyota-Prado-Hilux-D4D/191856294548?epid=675636886&hash=item2cab86ba94:g:sHkAAOSwbYZXXoU3) from "Down Under" to change them to 5/8 inch OD and buying all kinds of 5/8 hoses and adapters to make it work in my car.

To be continue

Interesting after all these years and having to custom everything because catch cans had such small hose attachments that finally things are catching on...…...

I read good things about the provent. Designed to work with turbo engines. Rob, don't you run just an open setup in your charger?

I'm curious how this will work. A lot of these products are rated for some HP setting for a commercial diesel, which is a way larger CID engine. - Quite a few products are advertised as such, and I'm curious if they are actually oversized for our application.

I'm curious if the 200 model may be larger than what is necessary, and you may be able to get by with a smaller model. I could be wrong.

that's kinda what I was trying to figure out. If you're gonna/need to run 5/8" hoses why a catch can with 1" barbs??? I like the product. Not sure if I'll have enough room to run one which is why a smaller one might be more up my alley.

You should really read the document above, it has the information you asked for.

I remember reading about this unit on a Corvette forum. The turbo LS guys were using them I guess. Not sure how you would measure how much blow by you have.

I was reading this last night. According to the tables on that site, 170l/min is a worn out 5.9 ISB, and that's an oily machine!
The tool mentioned to conduct the test is specific to the ISB line of cummins. The tool is not terribly expensive though - maybe it can be used to see what a typical 2.2 produces to try to see where on the product line you need to be?

The product seems to be a lot better design than the generic oil catch can though. It would be even better if there was a way to utilize the drain to the pan as well! Maybe draining it back into the turbo drain?

EDIT -

This looks to be the necessary tool you would need to do this.

Chrysler did use a drain from the air box to the turbo return in the later cars.

why the solenoids?

why the solenoids?

If you look at the PDF linked, it stated the drain port can either drain to the oil pan or use a check valve then drain for the Prevent 200 to function optimally. I can't do either due to packing and lack of available of the said check valve, so the 1/2 solenoid is inline after the drain port to drain its oil content when the engine is not running. The drain port will be close when ignition switch is on to force the oily air to go thru the filter then to the outlet port.

My Prevent 200's outlet port is connect both the intake manifold and a port on the pre-turbo piping with a Tee. I wanted the air to only travel to intake manifold in vacuum so a Supra PCV valve is inline of the route going intake manifold to stop boost from entering the Prevent 200. When in boost, the normally closed 3/4 solenoid will open and let air travel to the pre-turbo port.

I installed the system without the 1/4 solenoid, going to see how the new PCV system works without it first.

Here are some parts before installed. They have no black 1/2 inch hose so I have to use blue, it's not visible on top.
I know silicone hose is NOT rated to be used with oil due HC content inside the oil, but I can't find oil rated hose with the 90 degree bends I need.

Solenoid would open up if it sees 1psi or above at the intake manifold.

I didn't take picture of the drain. It currently drain to a small film bottle at the fog light mount. I need to find a reservoir more suitable for the task.

Why not silicone with the oil lines ?
I've ran high temp silicone heater hose for years in all my cars for turbo oil drain lines
Never seemed to have an issue

Looks like a decent setup
Is there a filter or screen inside ?
Can you disassemble it for cleaning ?

Hoses built with normal silicone grades are permeable to oils and will perish faster as the oils of vapours passing through the hose will eventually works its way through the material and cause swelling of the hose. The integrity of the hose will quickly be compromised.

If you see your silicone hoses "sweat" with oil, this is why.

Yes to both and page 8 has the answers you're looking for in details.

That looks very nice! I'll have to keep this in mind.

Also. How long does the 90 degree bend have to be? The new cummins motors use them here and there, and may work for you.
