FYI for you guys running the stock 15's...

Yokohama is reprinting the 1980's Advan HF type D tires. Hopefully will make it to the US.

Good, I hope it pays off for them so others will follow.

oh boy, tire discussions. What makes them so good? ( genuine curiosity )
From my experience, anything other than a summer tire is like a marble on a consulier with anything other than stock boost. Bigger injectors, cal and 18psi would smoke the Falkens in second
With the extra power I'm getting these days, I'll be running toyo proxes next time. Holding out for the wheels I want before that happens.

Just good news that another street 225-50/15 option is being made. I think there is only 1 street option out there right now, Kumho Ecsta AST. The rest are track tires.

Not clear yet how good it is, or how expensive. Assuming they would upgrade the compound to the latest 2017 era summer compound. The pattern is the same 80's-90's pattern and the original was a performance street tire.

Yeah , i am glad that they are making some more tire sizes. Hopefully that get them to the USA. Their are tons of 15" race tires , due to spec miata and spec bmw e30.
But not many street tires. I am even worse off with 16's on my car. Not many race or street tires.

Wish they would make the new retro Gatorbacks in the 225/50/15 size, they have it in a 225/60/15 mustang size. But this is cool.

I was a bit disappointed with tire selection when I started shopping around. To Andy's point of all of the miatas, hondas and BMWs that came with 15" tires you'd think there would be a decent selection. The problem is when you start getting above 205 width but the stock 6" wide rim is the limiting factor.
I will say that the Nitto NeoGen 205/50 is more like a 215/50
I'm pretty sure I'm sticking with a 15" rim. 16s would be perfect, but lack of tires has me on the fence.

Its funny (sad?) that a 80's - 90's era tire is being marketed as a classic reproduction.. I guess it makes sense when you do the math.

Hopefully they won't be 300 bucks each if/when they get here.

Is it hard to find modern sized wheels for these cars?

not at all , if you shop for neon or vw wheels

neon is the better bet to find offsets that work (it seems) as neon and fwd dodge wheels interchange

I got tired of finding nothing but wheels that look like different arrangements of sticks in a hoop one night so I googled american racing torque thrust for dodge neon

.. guess what I'm buying when I do wheels and tires for my charger lol

polished ,dark grey or black centers (spokes)

they come in 16 x 7 (35 os) and 17 x 7 1/2 (45 os) ... and I can even get center caps that say shelby instead of american racing

though they do have the "shelby cobra" emblem as well - so maybe I found a not so dorky way to put shelby "snakes" to a dodge fwd

and there's no shortage of tires in the low 23 inch diameter range for either 16 or 17 inch sizes
(clearing the spring mount on L body strut)

I've strayed far enough from the 15 inch tire topic and I'm having trouble posting links so I'll say the neon torque trusts and the shelby caps can be had or found at summit

ebay link maybe ?

I have seen them cheeper on ebay but they weren't polished

I know the FWD cars have plentiful options. I meant the GTP's.

GTP offset is weird, especially the front tires. The rear tires you can put probably an 8-9" wheel in, I'm running 245/50/16s on the back of mine and 225/50/16's on the front. I had to put a .5" spacer on my front hubs to get the inside of the rim off of the upper control arm. As such, with a passenger and a hard corner the pass side tire will kiss the fender, so I'll be swapping it out when I get the car back on the road.

I am running the 225/45 and 245/45 x 16". I have spacers as well, all 4 corners. I couldnt get the 50 sidewall tires to fit. I wish i could cause Hoosier makes a couple different ones.
7" wheels upfront, 8" in back. The race cars ran 8" front and 9 rear. Evidence of rubbing on all 4 corners.
Still hard to find good tires!

Your 50 series tires only rub a little? What kind are they?

I'm surprised you got 245/45-16 to fit! Wow, that is some decent tread width.

What offset wheels with what spacers are you guys with non-original wheels running?

Enkei rpf1., I think they only have 1 offset in our bolt pattern. Mine are 16 x 7 , have some 16x 8 on the way.

FYI, I'm not sure I've posted this before.
stock wheel:
15x6
32 offset = 4.76 backspace ( mounting surface to very outside lip of rim )
7 inch total width
2.24 inch from mounting surface to bead on the outside

From my measurements for a series 1:
3.5 inch max front extension for the rim.
5.75 inch max backspace for the front.

With that in mind, here are some calculations based on wider wheels and what offset / backspace is needed.
7 inch wheel ( 8" bead to bead ) offset to backspace:
offset 15 = 4.59 backspace ( 3.41" surface to lip outside )
offset 20 = 4.79 backspace ( 3.21" surface to lip outside )
offset 25 = 4.98 backspace ( 3.02" surface to lip outside )
offset 30 = 5.18 backspace ( 2.82" surface to lip outside )
offset 35 = 5.38 backspace ( 2.62" surface to lip outside )
offset 40 = 5.58 backspace ( 2.42" surface to lip outside )

8 inch wheel ( 9" bead to bead ) offset to backspace:
offset 15 = 5.09 backspace ( 3.91" surface to lip outside )
offset 20 = 5.28 backspace ( 3.72" surface to lip outside )
offset 25 = 5.48 backspace ( 3.52" surface to lip outside )
offset 30 = 5.68 backspace ( 3.32" surface to lip outside )
offset 35 = 5.878 backspace ( 3.12" surface to lip outside )

One of the challenges is that most FWD wheels have offsets in the 38-42+ range.
