View Full Version : Group Buy interest? Lengel upper plenum?

I've spoken with Adam and got his permission to offer an opportunity for another group buy for his custom 8v upper plenum which uses the factory 2pc lower.
I contacted him because i think i would like to have one on Slugmobile for her rebuild. In any case, we need a total of 5 for Adam to go ahead with another batch.
Thank you Adam for giving us another opportunity!

This is early so we haven't looked at material cost difference from the last batch, but realistically i don't see them being cheaper than before, unless for some miracle the price of Al dropped. So consider that, and we can get a better idea if we get enough interest.

Here id the link to the other group buy with more info and pics:

So who is with me?

G Dang, if I didn't already have one I'd be all over this! It is a beautiful piece of work for sure.

I'm always hoping/praying I can get a Lengel made TIII intake. I have the flanges, but that's about it. That would be the ultimate.

I also am hoping i could get something done like this for an eventual 2.4T rwd project.

I have to pick my battles more cautiously to limit marital discord...

dumb questions. that i cant tell fromthat post.

#1 does it have a Neck to face the TB forward. or what do you do with the throttle cable/body.
#2 stock style TB work? and bolt up? 52mm 58mm 60mm ?
#3 cruise control?
#4 A/c ?
#5 power steering?
#6 i see people talking about firewall clearance and solid motor mounts.. is this only specific body's . if so which ones?

Not dumb questions, good ones!
Anyone serious would want to find out the same if they don't already know.
I might be able to sum most of them up with this pic:

This is a van, and because of how the positioning of the TB would be directly on the plenum, a 90° hose fitting wouldn't clear the brake booster. So it required an elbow.
Other platforms do not, and hopefully others can post a pic of their build.

Also in my pic you see A/C, aftermarket cruise control, and power steering is back there too.
I've simply positioned the TPS facing forward and did not have to lengthen wires. AIC is fine too for me.
I've used a 52mm TB, and now have a 58mm. The machined opening is meant for right at the 58-60mm. Adam might need to confirm the CNC programed opening.
I do have poly engine&trans mounts. I have clearance between the firewall. Other platforms might be different.
I can take more detailed pics of mine if you want to see something specific.

It's just the flange. so the rest of the answers are up to whoever builds the rest of the plenum.

I had one for a while but sold it when i decided to go 16v. Beautiful piece.

Update: I received an email from Adam, saying that a vendor has stepped up to purchase as many as required to make this happen.
That being said, it looks like all 5 are spoken for between me and the vendor. Adam did a material check and price remains at the same $325 + shipping.
If you would like one, please reply and get in now, so you can take part at this pricing.
I do not know if the units the vendor purchases will be available, or if they are spoken for.
Jon and anyone else, this is your time.
The one posted recently for sale on turbododge / FB had some interest, so if you guys see this please pass along. I don't know if these will be available again or at this price. So if you are on the fence, go ahead and step across! ;)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. There are several folks using these.

What about using this with custom runners to the TIII head?
You're going to have to make custom runners anyway right? Just have the plenum side flange be the same as the 2pc?
But i don't have TIII knowledge really...

Not exactly sure what you mean.
This is for the plenum, and yes it will be all welded up.
See the earlier group buy thread referenced in the first post.

Adam has not requested the deposits yet. I'm pretty sure the process won't be different than the other time he made them.

personally I's like the option of the existing 2.2 plenium with an inlet that would allow mounting a Boomba 70mm neon SRT TB

I'd sell the one I have now and buy that instead in a heartbeat
