shadow liftgate/ trunk differences

is there anything different about shadow tailgates that will make certain years not interchangeable ? car-part.com seems to group 87-88 and 89-94 differently

i do know about the small difference in the tinting on the edge of the pre 89 rear glass but thats not an issue as long as it will bolt up, im looking to get either an 87 gate or a 94 to replace my 1989 trunk gate

I'm not sure, but I have a nice 94 hatch if you're interested, kinda far away though.

I put a 1992 gate on my 1988 CSX-T. It fits the same but has a nicer looking rear window.

I also have a newer one on my 88. Bolts up no problem, brake light and defrost connectors are different.

thanks, i found a good 87 one only 30 miles away thats even the right color so i guess ill be picking that up
