looking to change my 3.77 final drive to 3.50 will buy your parts or trade if your near 18642 PA, willing to buy or trade the whole trans if preferred would rather not do shipping on the whole unit though

I believe you need more than the gears because a 3.50 is a small spline trans and the 3.77 is a coarse gear large spline

im really new to messing with trans stuff so im not sure really, the one i have here is a 92+ should be large spline i think. i already have a clutch and lsd i would like to use on installed on a different 523

i read a few things and now im not sure what i want to do with this, i just want to run spin less rpm on the highway in 4th and 5th gear and wouldnt be bad if 1st and 2nd lasted a little longer. i already have an lsd in a 523 trans i want to use again and a 6 puck clutch setup, what do i need to buy to make this happen
btw i have a 1989 a555 i can use for hybrid parts if necessary

The 3.77 ring and pinion come out and the 3.50 ring and pinion go in. Get a set of lock ring pliers to take apart the gear cluster

You WILL screw up and over-stretch the lock rings if you attempt to use anything else.

If you have non-lbody, buy bigger wheels and tires.

i like my current tire setup it kinda fits the car nicely, i would prefer to just change the trans,

135sohc thanks for the tip on the pliers, ill be sure to use proper tools. so all i need is a ring and pinon set and it will drop right in ? even if where talking 1990s vs 1992+

In this application the input shaft and speed gears could care less what the ring and pinion shaft are.

Take a 3.50, 3.77 and 3.85 A523 pinion shafts and put them side by side, cover the pinion gear and the shafts are identical.
~The input shaft and speed gears need to match eachother.
~The ring and pinion need to match eachother.

Where the speed gears and pinion shaft need to match up... Follow the first two 'rules' and its not possible to not have it 'work out'.

In the 523/568/543 you can build any number of frankenstein combinations.

New process/chrysler finally got things 'figured out' when the 523/568 came along. There are a few little things here and there to be aware of but nothing like the pre 1990 stuff when it comes to mix-n-match to optimize the gearing and final drive for your application.
