Is my 87 Lancer really a Shelby?

So I just picked up an 87 Lancer from someone a couple weeks ago. He told me it was number 736. However there is no dash plaque, the vin tells me nothing and most of the Shelby items are missing. I can see where the trunk medallion use to be. The emission sicker is a CS one. Also i can faintly make out the Mobil 1 sticker on the core support. The core support tag unfortunately is completely rusted away. How can I verify if it truly is a CS car and what # it is?

The DMV and Wa State Patrol say mine is :) Sorry the title made me think this thread was going somewhere else. Oh well, Pic included anyway.
