we'll i got board and i told a friend of mine that i would make a fiberglass vent to go in to his A4 for his boost gauge. so far all i have done is the hole cut and i used felt instead of fiberglass cause IMO its not as messy. next ofter it drys I'll hit it with bondo to smooth it out. all i have right now is 2 pic but i will keep everyone posted. i did make a piller for a daytona that was glassed but i cant seem to find it. I'm thinking about making parts in my free time for our cars. please let me know what you think http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d30/ajbardo/100_0410.jpg

can i give an opinion (i've build TONS of these...) the felt was a good choice, but if its a flat piece, just go buy some 1/4" PVC or ABS plastic from a sign shop (they'll call it sintra) and use that. superglues easy as hell with some good cryanolite superglue from a hobby store. and sands great too! use a GOOD body filler like Rage Gold, and a good filler/primer (omega always works for me)

good luck!

it seems your ready to do this alone, but if you have any questions, please ask. check out my webpage http://webpages.charter.net/devlish and look around there for ideas and my projects, i've documented most of them, and have more to put up soon as well. and if anyone actually does want parts like this made... PM me for details.

yeah someone on td.com told me to talk to you if i needed any help. the only problem i had was that i wanted to staple the felt to the vent but i just kept bending the staples. so i gave up on that idea

superglue. superglue the felt to the plastic. or, in this case... just use PVC plastic since it's flat.

but not superglue from Walmart or anything, go to a hobby store and ask for the green bottle (i think it's medium thickness) of Cryanolite glue, and the rapid harder spray to go along with it. about $12 total. TOTALLY worth it!!

anyways, i'm going to do a quick HOW TO for a guage pod i made a few months ago for a friend with some pics, i'll post it in about 20min... should help you out some i think

(do you remember who it was on TD.com that mentioned me?)

a piece that small really needs no resin at all. just plastic and superglue... superglue dries HARD! and no mixing req'd! :-)

looks nice so far. definetely post up some pics once it's painted. I'd like to do a few custom pieces for these cars as well.. but not quite sure what or where.

i know i want to do a custom pod in my Omni in the ashtray area, and i need to redo the vent-gauge pods due to the angle of the guages down there. guess i'll do that this winter i hope. shouldn't take too long if i get off my arse and do it!
