J body heater core

I suspect the heater core is leaking on our 89 Lebaron convertible. How much of a PITA is this going to be to replace and how much stuff will break when I take the dash apart?

any tips, tricks, shortcuts?

Since the J body is virtually identical to the G body. I have personal experience with this. Bad news is, it's a royal PITA to change. You pretty much have to remove the entire dashboard to do it. Remove the center console, drop the steering column, I removed both front seats to give myself more room, then drop the dash down, and swing out the passenger side to give you room to remove the HVAC box. Change out the heater core, and assemble in reverse order. I spent 3 evenings working on mine, and cursed it the whole time...:banghead:


Sorry to be a downer about it, but I'd rather have you go into it knowing the truth. Anybody with moderate skills can do it, but it will take a lot of time, and is a frustrating job to do...
