It saddens me to do this, but I believe the time has finally come to sell my R/T. It’s a 92 with 102k miles on the clock. This is one of the factory pilot cars, it has a second fender tag that reads “PVP Pilot Car Daytona R/T”. It was sold at a Chrysler auction in 94 I believe with 1300 miles on the odometer. The car spent the first part of its life in Chicago before I bought it and brought it to Utah. I keep thinking I’ll get around to working on it again, but the time never seems to come. It’s been in storage for over five years and I’ve finally lost the storage spot. Rather than let it sit outside I would rather see someone work on the car. I have owned this car since 2000 when I was in high school, so I will try to remember all the things I have done to the car.

Exterior:

The roof, hatch, and wing need to be repainted and the clear coat is starting to go on the passenger side B pillar as well. Both bumpers also have some paint imperfections. There is a dent on the driver’s side fender I did while leaning on the car while working on it. The headlights and fog light lenses need to be refinished, they are yellowing. The wheels on the car will come with it, I still have the factory ninja wheels and center caps that are in great shape. They will come with the car as well. Despite the flaws, the car still looks great. The pictures below were taken in 2008, the car has been in a garage under a car cover since this that time.

Interior:

Everything on the interior is in great shape. The carpet could probably use a good cleaning under the floor mats, but that’s it. It has an aftermarket cd player in the car with all new speakers and has been wired for a sub and an amp. I kept the original radio and speakers and they will come with the car if you would like them. I replaced the front seats with a set of leather seats out of a LeBaron. The driver’s seat finally developed a small rip in the leather on the bottom cushion. I still have the original front cloth seats that are in good shape if you want to swap them back in the car, they just need a good cleaning. Headliner is perfect, rear cargo cover is included. Currently has Autometer boost and EGT gauge in the A pillar and a mechanical oil pressure gauge and A/F gauge in the bottom slot of the center stack. Also hidden in the center stack is a manual fan switch and a master switch to turn all the gauges off if you’d like.

Motor:

Stock bottom end was rebuilt with forged venolia pistons, ARP rod and main studs and ARP head studs. Balance shafts were removed. Head was rebuilt by Lone Wolf with all new valve guides and a 3 angle valve job. The core plugs were welded up as well.
-Lone wolf stage 1 cams
-15 new lifters (FWD was low on stock when I purchased, so one lifter still needs to be replaced)
-Cometic head gasket
-NOS valve cover gaskets
-New oil pump and I shaft
-Ported exhaust manifold with EGT bung
-Turbonetics 50 trim T3/T4 hybrid with stage 3 exhaust wheel
-ATP ultimate 3” swingvalve
-3” downpipe and exhaust with magnaflow cat and muffler
-Godspeed front mount intercooler
-Custom 2.5” IC piping with Turbo XS RFL bov
-Rebuilt small spline 568 (drilled for crank sensor) with quaife lsd
-FWD four puck ceramic clutch disc with stock T3 pressure plate
-Poly shifter bushings
-B&M short shifter
-Poly mounts solid motor mounts and trans mount
-FWD grounding wire kit
-K&N air filter
-Magnacore 8mm Wires
-Vacuum block

I’m sure I am missing a ton of stuff, but you get the idea. I have about 5000 miles on the car since I did the major rebuild. I drove it daily for about six months before parking it when I got married. Obviously the plan was to upgrade the fuel system and then crank the boost, but I just never got around to it. The car currently has a grainger valve set to 11 psi. The only driveability issue is that the exhaust manifold has developed a small crack where the egt bung was welded in. I assume it will get worse over time so I have purchased a replacement ported manifold that will come with the car. If I were keeping the car I would probably just JB weld it and see what happens.

Here is the project log if you'd like to see what's been done to the car.

Asking price is $6000 obo. Probably not interested in a trade unless you have a Prowler or a Scat Pack Challenger. Seriously, don't buy this car so i have to keep it.

Why don't you just drive it? That manifold is cake to swap out compared to an 8v. Seriously, just put a temporary tag on it and drive it for a month. You won't sell it after that I'm sure. Set boost at 14 psi and go have fun!

That's the plan if it doesn't sell. It doesn't have AC which has prevented me from driving it throughout the summers.

2/65 is the best ac anyway ;)

There were a few people texting me about the car last week, but I broke my phone and have been unable to respond. If that was you, please text me again. Thanks

Price dropped to $6500

I have had a blast driving this thing all summer, but as the weather has started to turn I realize I need to sell this thing so it doesn't sit out in the snow all winter. I forgot to mention a few other things I have that will be included with the sale of the car.

-Rear bumper support
-Rear R/T bumper cover
-Set of R/T side skirts
-Rear Louvers
-Stock IC pipes
-Full set of factory FSM Manuals
-Any other daytona specific odds and ends I have laying around

I have been working on the car a little this summer as I have been driving it, details can be seen here.

Basically I replaced all the radiator hoses, reinstalled the original seats, polished the wheels and headlights, and installed a wideband O2 gauge.

Any chance you haven't sold this yet?

How would it do in a drive back to Wisconsin?

I've been looking forever for a clean RT, and gave up hope, started looking at C4 Vette's again.

Car is back up for sale. Note to potential buyers, please check with your significant other before sending me a deposit and then stringing me out for two entire months. I don't appreciate that.

Price is now $4500

I know these are niche cars, but has the market for turbo-dodges really fallen off this badly?

Within the community, unfortunately yes...

The saga continues.... A guy, who I believe is a member here, came to look at the car last week while he was in town for work. After going back and forth a little we finally settled on what I thought was a fair price. I was a little depressed to finally be letting go of the car, but we shook hands and that was that. Well, the next morning he texts me wanting to renegotiate the price of the car. Sooooo yeah. The car is still available for sale.

Maybe it's a good thing. I'm getting married next month and am in the process of buying a new house so my motivation to sell it right now is pretty high. If I still have it by next spring I may just hang onto it.

This has always been an issue with our cars. I understand they aren't as popular as the Hemi cars or other muscle cars of the 60s/70s but if, within our own community, we cannot see the value of a rare car, how can we expect others on the outside to appreciate their worth?
I say Hang on to it. I will never get what I feel my IROC is worth from anyone. But i'd rather keep it than hand it over so someone else can enjoy it paying the bare minimum.
