If I can figure out a way to IC my log intake, and I keep everything else the same ( electronics, injectors, computer, etc... ) what happens when I remove the EGR - which I'm guessing I'll have to do when I install the inlet flange on the turbo. Will there be any codes thrown or will the driveablity of the car be affected?

Thanks!
Paul

a code will most likely be thrown if u remove egr, aside from that why dont u just strick a late style t1 intaker on it and make ur life wayyy easier?

I like to be different. I have a couple of ideas for IC'ing the log and since they would require me to remove the EGR I just wanted to know what would happen. If just a code is thrown would that show up in the car as a light being on? If not, how about emissions? I had the car tested and since there is no computer hookup, if there is no light on then all I'd have to be concerned with is the exhaust sniffing. If that passes then I'm fine.

Thanks!

as long as the solenoid is left plugged in you'll have no code. If you're gonna go through the trouble though I'd say at least go with a 1 piece if not a 2 piece intake. They're just way more efficient.

The EGR reduces NOx so if you remove it, it will go up. If you have a sniffer test, you need a good 3 way cat or retard the base ignition timing before you go thru.

Just leave the EGR system on there, it works just fine. Don't change the turbo inlet, use the original.

I agree if it works, but alot of the times, the valve is seized, the pipe is rotted, solenoid is junk etc and parts are getting very hard to find.:(

I would more likely have a newer cat from Summit ( CatCo ) installed before I do anything with the IC idea. Are the CatCo's decent enough to help reduce the NOx?

Any 3 way cat will do the job, but the smaller and cheaper you go, the shorter its life span. I personally prefer Walker Super cats, there huge, flow and are reasonably priced.

Like so:

If so, that's about the same price as a CatCo. No big difference...Cool :thumb:

good reason to go to full T2, 99% didn't have EGR :)

Thats it but let me check my numbers, some Walker models are better. You want 2 1/2 inch correct? I have to drop in at work to fix my vacuum so I will post the good number later.

If your interested, I've decided to sell my modified log intake.
Uses origional suck through throttle body.

15038 is a medium size cat, overall length is 13 1/4", you need this number-15146, its 18 inchs total length. I am using the 3 inch version.
You can also use 15042 but it has a air pump fitting and the wash coat isn't as good, and a better number and also has a fitting is 15142.
