I was looking around at different intake manifolds when I came across the BMF and when I looked at the info it said it requires a ZF powersteering pump. My shadow has a saginaw pump but it got me thinking. Would a saginaw with a remote reservoir "can" work to alleviate the packing issues with larger intakes and or downpipes?

Something like this?

Or this?

Thanks for looking.

Where would you put the remote reservoir? Sure, it may work, but I think it's going to create other problems, starting with the physical location of the hoses and remote reservoir, then the brackets and mounting points.

And if you do want to buy the BMF intake, do it soon rather than later. 5 more, and then production will stop.

The lines and reservoir location is going to be different for each car but for my Shadow I was thinking in the cowl area next to the windshield washer fluid reservoir.

Were you able to make the remote reservoir saginaw pump work on a Shadow?

I haven't had a chance to try it yet, I've had too many other projects to work on lately. I'll post up if/when I try it.

Which vehicles have the Saginaw remote reservoir? I know my T&C had a remote reservoir.

Very common on Chevy's, especially vans and 1966-68, 396 Chevelles

Not sure about Mopars.

Thanks

on the topic of saginaw pumps , do any of you know off hand if a small block or big block pump would have the same bolt holes to mount it on the bracket as our 2.2 sag pumps ?

then , is the shaft and pulley mounting the same

I could see the pulley needing swaped

I'm asking as I'm now wondering if a March billet saginaw pump would fit from one of their aftermarket pulley / accessory drive kits

I think they also have a remote res version of that billet pump too

like this but not specifically this pump as it's for a chevy judging by the referance to long and short water pumps

more .

second link includes their remote style pumps
... and judging by the empty case shell maybe I've answered part of my own questions .. if one of our pumps will fit in it (?)

Could something from the 96-2000 caravans be adapted to work?

Could something from the 96-2000 caravans be adapted to work?

When I went SRT-4 in my van, I used the accessories off of a '98 2.4 N/A Caravan so my PS pump would be in the back and my alternator would be in the front. The PS pump is like what is pictured above and I used the '98 PS reservoir. The engine bay is taller in the van so it worked for me but with some creativity with hose routing, I don't see why it couldn't be adapted to a Shadow.

Here's what the reservoir looks like:
