Motegi still makes the Traklite rims in 7 and 8 inch widths with a 5X100 bolt pattern, but ya gotta want 17" or larger:( I want some 15's for project RedBox and I cant find any wheel dealer that still has them. Sure, they have them listed and I even paid for a set online only to have someone call the next day and say they were discontinued. So I asked why they still list them on the site-long pause and then some nonsense about their webmaster needs to update blahblahblah. So does anyone have a lightweight forged set of 15's? 7" or 8" 35ish offset..

There was a set of consulier cragars on ebay. But they are probably heavier than you want. But they looked neat.

I got a set a couple years ago and my tire guy had a hard time locating them back then. I used to stalk VW and Subie sites for wheel deals on the used market.

How about some custom wheels. A bit more but not ridiculous.

Mebbe look for a set of old RPF1's or K1's if the motegis don't pan out. Probably a waste of time looking for 15's on subaru/mitsu/frs forums. Wheels are so huge these days.

Are Kosei's forged, do you know the weight? They are a decent looking rim:D

No, they're cast. But they are 13 lbs each. I have a bunch of them and love them.

Alan, I remember you posted a thread about forged 15" RSL wheels way back. Are those still around?

Lightweight 15X7"s are getting hard to find. 17's, no problem:confused:

15" tires are obsolete nowadays.

That's simply not true. Check tirerack for 205/50r15. 225/45r15, or 255/50r15. Plenty of high performance or "race only" tires available in those sizes. For a guy looking for ultra light wheels who lives in CA, a 225/45r15 would be incredible on one of our cars.

How many new cars today come from the factory with 15" tires ?

What does it matter? Guys have been beating the 15" tires are dead drum for years. I went with 16" wheel on my CSX to hedge against 15" tires being hard to find in anything but a full race tire. This year there are more 15" tires available in the perfect size for our cars then there have been for years.

Team dynamics has some nice 5x100 15x7's that are still available. Not as cheap as the Traklites but very good looking wheels and under $1000 a set. I see them on ebay, maybe a shop can beat ebay shipped prices? No idea on offset and I think their center holes are a millimeter small for our cars.

Eh I take that back.. the Team Dynamics 15x7 pro rally is 18 pounds. Not exactly light weight! Had no idea they were so much heavier than the pro race wheels.

Rrider thanks for doing a lil research into my dilemma. Yeah, at 18lbs I'd just leave the stockers on there;) IIRC they come in at 19lbs

So you checked with the manufacturer's advertised weight then? In the pic you showed them mounted with tires? My drivers license says I weigh 185lbs:lol:

That's the thing, the retailers and manufacturers treat the weight of any given model of wheel as if it is a state secret, when really it ought to be as prominent as price and dimensions.

No I have 4 I am using on my car with tires and thought I had 4 more without tires, but only have 3.
I took one and put it on a scale..... 15 lbs.

If you wanted to go ultimate lightweight, 4 neon aluminum spares and 195's you could get the whole set to around 85 pounds. They are ugly and steering response would suck, but the inset in the wheel wells would be great for commuter mpg. I know some of the salt flat guys are using space saver spares as their race wheels for aero.

I'm daily driving the GLHT and doing the Lindbergh/P38 method - so lean it doesn't make enough power to hurt itself, do get lean misfires though.

I guess I didn't really update this thread but I did find a nice set of 15X7 Kosei K1's that a TIII GTP guy didn't need anymore. They were white So Jackson had them blasted and powder coated in satin black, powder coated the drums, added long studs from an SRT4. Because RaceCar:eyebrows:

Good old K1s. It's hard not to like them. Although i dont think a wheel should be blacker than the tire on it. ;)
