Anyone look at the proposed kockpit changes in F1?
While I have to say that I the raptor has always looked utterly ridiculous to me, it is awfully similar to the proposed 2017 closed kockpit designs. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/25/c9d759faaa987b81a2fb70183e08e7f6.jpg

Jacob told me that the race drivers swore that the split windshield design was faster, and as none of the F1 designs have a single windshield, I guess they were right and way way ahead of their time.

Ps the forum won't let me write c_ckpit , I guess they have banned that "c" word.

Just a reminder for all the "Consulier's are the ugliest cars ever " people.

To my eye the evolution is clear , and I think the greenhouse is actually much more awkward on the prototype car.
Comments?

They all look like race cars should!

The 2016 LeMans BMW looks more submariney/boatish.. very odd.

I got to admit these older Moslers were ugly to me when I first saw them. Their looks really grew on me over time though. Its funny how your perception of any given car's looks change over time... even though its the same car.

I agree completely. I never saw a Consulier till a few years ago , and it already had the cool factor for me.
What I appreciate is the function over form.
People complain that the GTP can't be very aerodynamic, but look at that BMW!

So is F1 for reals going to run this?? Haven't been keeping up on F1.

Speaking on vindication of odd design, I've seen rear mounted radiator/fans more and more lately. A lot of the open class time attack cars do this now. Even on front engine cars. Then there's the flat bottom with removable panels. That is used on production cars these days.. got to be pretty rare before the 2000's though. Not to mention the whole composite structural body thing.

F1 had voted down closed cars again this season. Drivers want it for safety, sanctioning body wants to keep it open.
