She rotted away. :-(

But I found this car around the corner for less than nothing. Ot's rust free and has 75000 miles on it.

I actually just finished the intercooler install, and Will be re doing the cooling system. They head and turbo is next.

Dude, the CSX died the day I got the Daytona driveable. That car has a knack for collapsing at just the right time. The thing is smoking like an SOB now, the damn rubber freezeplug popped out again, the struts are shot, the frontend alignment is all effed up, the ball joints are shot, and the clutch is toast. Time to put her down for a while.

Thanks everyone...it came together really nice in the end. Just finished mounting the lower airdam tonight and trying to figure out why the radiator fan wasn't coming on. Man, the OTC in ATM made that last problem a snap to find.

I documented many of the little things that needed to be done to put the 90 interior in the 86. I thought about writing an article, but I doubt too many people really want to know about that one...LOL.

Damn, that sucks... luckily in time tho... wierd about those CSX's, my old CSX broke an axle on the way home from work (drove it home broken) the day I bought my Dakota.

It actually looks better in that picture than it does in person. I've had the car since 1990ish, got it when I was in high school. I've been tinkering with it on & off for the last year after having it in storage for almost 8 years. I bought an extra set of gold crabs, some misc. pieces, and an replacement black door off one of these boards from an northern car. A couple months ago I had the car resprayed black to touch up some fading, but it's cheaply done & up close it has lots of flaws, dings that we didn't see, ect. The two things that need the most attention now are the two front seats, the leather is in baaaad shape, and the engine is out of an 84 parts car I had & has seen better days.

It looks like the rear bumper cover has been pushed in behind the tire. Probably part or the rust problem he was referring to (lack of quarter panel).

Those hooks only came on 84's, I have compared 84 seat belts to 86 ones before and found no difference.

I think chrysler must have gotten lazy and stopped putting them on or something:p

Hey SwiftTech those are the coolest rims I have ever seen on a Daytona. What are they and where did you get them. Those are better than pumpers.

Thanks! They are Elite 15x7.5 or 8" wheels, I don't know the model name. They came on the car when I bought it. I don't know if they are available anymore. They were not a direct bolt on either, they guy I bought it from said they were spec'd for a bmw or something like that, so they have a rwd offset and sthey sit out a little bit more than a normal wheel. The fronts had to be machined to clear the brake calipers. The rears weren't though so no tire rotations for me. But the 225/50-15's fit so nicely on them I don't care about the shortcomings of them.

Those are the same as some 80s Ferraris apparently, Ford Europe used to put them in the Sierra and Escort Cosworth and a lot of the RS turbo models, they were all popular so plenty to find over here.

Here's mine.

G-BODY LOVERS! It's now up for sale so if you're interested, PM me. $1000 as is --- neither pumpers nor ninjas are included though. Sitting on pizzas right now but you'll have to bring your own rims to transport because the pizza's are my bro's.

http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/photopost/data/676/medium/pics_013.jpg

Took the car off the road on September 29 due to the following reasons:

Needed some things to pass inspection, and I found a better deal with a Sundance to put the money towards than in parts for this.

A) Needs cracked windshield replaced
B) Tranny is having difficulty shifting (even though it was rebuilt in March, 12k miles ago). Does not want to shift by itself out of low gear, and even shifting manually only solves this problem every now and then. You really have to gas it and left off quickly to make the car buck hard and that has seemed to work.
C) A/C needs recharged
D) Power Steering is tight (pump?) -- rack and pinion replaced with brand new Mopar part in 05.
E) Some rust is evident on both rockers and driver's floor (typical with all Daytonas). There is a perfect candidate for sheet metal at a local yard (rockers and entire floorpan) that could be had however.
F) Computer in the car is from a 91 and even though it runs fine it throws a couple of goofy codes (can't remember which ones exactly at this moment though, would have to make time to check it out).

This would be a great project for someone to get involved with. I'm now looking to get $1000 for it. I would provide another turbo a413 tranny for no extra charge with the car for this price. I do not know how this other tranny will hold up though, but its worth a shot as it came out of a parts car that I had not driven. Here are the good things about the car that it will come with:

90 2.5 CB, all new seals and gaskets as of 12k miles ago - 12x,xxx miles on motor total I believe.
Complete 2 piece intake w/support bracket
NEW Garrett T2 turbo w/roughly 12,000 miles on it
TU SS turbo lines
NICE Vaccuum Block
90 Specific T1 airbox, hosing - All in good shape.
Working T1 Radiator w/fan
Build Sheet, owner's manual, and of course, extra tiny little lightbulbs for the message center in the dash all on hand!
The original block will also be included in this deal. A connecting rod snapped in it two years ago, but no damage to cylinder wall. Piston just looks like a pretzel. Reason this is included is because it probably has the VIN stamp on it somewhere and might fancy someone who plans to restore it.

The interior is very nice except for a tear in the driver's seat. I do have a close match (a bit grayer however) in the same perforated leather material that I will throw in if you wish. Daytona embroidered cargo cover, factory Daytona floormats (stitching gone). A/F and oil pressure gauge (unhooked) attached in pillar pod will also go with the car - ($90 value there).

I have a full P.I. decal set in cluding windshield banner for this that I just bought back in March because I was going to repaint it but did the Turismo up again instead. Add $180 if you want to add this to the package so you have all the decals and won't have to wait!

No tire kickers please. PM me if you're interested. Pickup only, and you will need a set of rims to throw on to take it home - its sitting on my brother's pizza rims right now. Trailer/dolly is a must, no exceptions, with how the tranny is acting up not wanting to shift - don't want to see anyone get stuck on the way back home if you were to drive it. Plus, I do not have the time to come rescue someone hours away if they decide to drive it and it acts up. As I said, extra tranny, even though condition may or not be fantastic will come with it.

Prior to taking if off the road and this sudden tranny slippage, I drove it to Columbus in early August with no problems, and would not hesitate to drive it anywhere if it were not for the tranny. I'd really like to keep it, but I am more focused on redoing my CSX than this... As I stated, the other stuff needing fixed besides the tranny is just maintenance stuff that would've been taken care of if the deal with my new Sundance didn't come about.

It does have its knicks and bruises and paint is reasonable for daily driving, but will need redone if you want a show car.

Either way, not a bad project car!

Pics. can be taken as the car sits currently for those interested, just send me an email address via PM.

HEre is my g-body
ITs an 86 laser xt, t1 automatic. Its got t-tops (that dont leak suprisingly) its got the leather interior which is almost perfect (leathers cracking a lil bit) its got a factory boost gauge. We bought it for 100 dollars with a rod knocking but running and driving. We got it with brand new tires, a reman transmission, and the body is nearly flawless except for there is a crack in the rear bumper and the paint is faded on the top. It now has a rebuilt t1 motor (mostly stock) and it is just in need of some timing and starting it up to see if it will run. All the suspension is still in place and it has 60,000 original miles and Odometer still works (concept eh?)
Lotsa daytonas on here and not many lasers.
Not that i have anything against daytonas.

the 2nd one in looks like the front of a camaro

And it's wearing early '90s Camaro Z-28 wheels. I had to look again at the second picture of that car to see the "Dodge" lettering in the door molding.

i dont think so. Has a fist size dent behind the drivers side door towards the rocker and the fender is bent up a lil towards the door but is alright. I dont know much about the car really other then it needs a tranny and the interior is dirty and could use a new drivers seat since it has a rip down the side about 2 inchs long.

Wasn't it a pain in the butt to pull the motor out with the hood still on? That's the first thing that comes off when I pull a motor. Makes life much easier.

It wasn't that bad. Trans was already out. My 7 year old worked the lift while I guided. If I was doing it myself, I would have had to remove the hood.

Well this is a pretty old thread but I will add mine it would look a lot better if people would stop backing in to my car.

No photoshop there. I've seen it in person and it looks just as good as the pics suggest.
