Can someone please tell me how to get replacement parts for the rear disc brakes
and the emergency brake shoes for this car. Auto stores show that a 1987 Dodge Lancer has drum brakes
in the rear.

Will the 1990 LeBaron GTC or Daytona Shelby parts work as they have the small emergency brake
shoes installed in the disc rotor.

Thank You,
Tony

89 Daytona Shelby will have the proper rotor, pad and shoe situation.

Not 100% true.

89 Daytona or Lebaron with 14" wheels and solid rotor is the interchange, not the vented '89 Shelby Daytona with 16" wheels.

PADS: WAGNER Part # MX415

ROTOR: WAGNER Part # BD61948

The caliper is unique and I think the 88 Shadow will interchange but not 100% sure. I have to order a set and try them out.

Here are the part numbers you can use to reference parts:

Number Description Other Applications Interchange
4467450 Rotor 87 Shelby Lancer, 88-89 Shelby CSX
4467439 Brake Pads 87 Shelby Lancer, 88-89 Shelby CSX MX415
4467429 Parking brake shoes
4467430 Right Caliper
4467431 Left Caliper

Of particular note was the brake pads. I could simply plug the part numbers in various sites like Autozone and get a result. The brake pads, however, I had to do a little more searching and found that MX415 number. You can use that number to interchange it.

87-88 rear discs are different from 89-up. 87-88 uses a wedge-type park brake, meaning there's a lever on the caliper that squeezes the pads to the rotor. 89-up use drum brakes inside the rotor.

Not the Shelby CSX or Lancer.

This may help clear up some of the confusion: http://www.wagnerbrake.com/find-my-part

The CSX and maybe the Lancer use a specific rubber hose and the bolts for the caliper are bigger than the caliper bolts used in later years. This becomes an issue when you try to interchange calipers.

Tony,

Your post got me to register for this board, hahahah. I also own a Shelby Lancer, #707, however, it is not yet in my possession. Regardless, I have done a lot of research on the car, and I would like to share with you what I have found with regards to the rear braking system:

Left Brake Caliper: A1 Cardone 184308 is a direct cross for Mopar 4467431 - listed as '88-'89 Dodge Shadow and Plymouth Sundance
Right Brake Caliper: A1 Cardone 1843047 is a direct cross for Mopar 4467430 - listed as '88-'89 Dodge Shadow and Plymouth Sundance

The hoses, Mopar 4467404, and 4467405 I have come up empty on.....there is a company called Techna-Fit that specializes in stainless braided brake and clutch lines. They might be worth contacting.

The rotors, Mopar 4467450, you can use the Wagner BD61948, Raybestos 76002R, or the AC Delco 18A294A.

The rear pads, the aforementioned Wagner MX415 will work, pulling up an interchange shows a boatload of front wheel drive Chryslers.

The park brake shoes, I THINK, are Wagner PAB643, or Raybestos 643PG's, however, I can't be quite certain yet. Judging by the sheer number of FWD Chryslers (everything from Shadows to Intrepids) they fit, I would say it's a decent bet, but don't quote me on that.

I hope this helps everyone!

Tim

Did you ever get this situation figured out?. I'm looking to replace the rear brake set-up on my son's 87 Shelby Lancer. Any info. would be great. Thanks.

I'm attempting to find a piston for the Shelby Lancer rear brakes. Ordered one that was 1-2mm larger, so ordered two more. If anyone has the exact part number, I would be appreciative. The seal I purchased was KELSEY-HAYES KC83018/KC-83018. Somehow that fit the caliper, but the piston did not. Ordered the 14" wheel rear disc piston along with another just in case. Will report back later if it fits. Just measured the piston and it's 1 5/16" x 1 3/4" (roughly). The diameter is correct, not sure about the length since it broke on me.

UPDATE:

Found this on Napa's site and the measurements sorta work out to what I found to be for mine. 1.334" translates to roughly 34mm, which is the same size as the seal and that converts to standard measurement to 1 5/16". The length I measured may be off since I didn't have the whole piston to measure. This was the same part number I ordered from Rock Auto, so this should be it, hopefully.

If you sent in your old core ,maybe there is a company that would re-build them.....for a premium cost ?
Especially true for cars more rare than the Shelby's , with cores that are hard to find.

The part number posted above is the correct piece. Test fit and it goes in as intended. Glad I found one. Also, bought the Raybestos one as well. It fits, but it is made of steel so it's very heavy. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

I've seen the plastic pistons get real brittle with age.

I thought about that, probably why this one failed. Got hot for some reason and couldn't take the heat. Probably won't use the steel one, but I have an extra in case this happens again.
