not a huge deal though.

Guess people are losing interest once the price goes above 8k.

Ebay it, if you have too. The last one I know that sold was the Auto 2.5 car, and it sold way to cheap (17xxx).

polopharm
11-03-2015, 12:17 PM
Which car was that ?
I am planning on doing auction on Bring a Trailer, they accepted it. And they require bidders to be pre-qualified with a payment method , so no bogus buyers.
Hopefully that works. If not I will not cry if I have to keep this one.

Good luck on the sale. I think it depends on audience and availability. I'd bet some are waiting in the wings for someone to get bored and offer one up cheap.
That's a pretty big IF though...after the shuffle, most of the current owners are VERY partial to them, I know I am.
I agree, there are worse things in life than being "stuck" with a consulier LOL

I agree. You'll have to market it well and try to make people understand what it is.
I have to say that those of us that got them for sub original retail prices are luck SOBs.
Handling / performance characteristics aside, you can't normally get the rarity and exclusivity these cars have for less than well into the 6 figure range.

The main stigma is "Kit car" or "Boutique car" status that seems to plague it. Just like a Factory5 car ( although has outstanding performance ) doesn't cost an arm and a leg because they're easily obtainable and "aren't real cars" .. actually had someone say that to me once.

The perception of the Consulier by the average joe is that "they were built in someones shop?" had someone ask me that too...

The general public is so uninformed about these cars...but once you find someone that knows what they are...they're all over them.

Not sure how long you can wait, but Mecum Kissimmee is in Jan and Barrett Jackson is usually in March-April for Palm Beach.
That's where you'll find other kooks like us ;)

polopharm
11-05-2015, 01:44 PM
Barrett Jackson is a good call cause its 5 min from my house too !!

I want to offer up my version of the 25,000 challenge - anyone in a car worth 25 k built prior to 1990 that can beat this one in one lap around Palm Beach international, and then on a run at the drag strip immediately after, can have the car or 25k , if I win i get same deal- there car or 25k.

I don't think you could find a car to beat it.

Put that in the auction listing !

Reaper1

That's a loosing bet these days...just check out the GRM Challenge!

polopharm
11-05-2015, 11:44 PM
Read it again- same vintage car and same value.
What else pre 1990 worth 25k or less is gonna beat it ?

Reaper1
11-06-2015, 04:44 PM
Again, GRM Challenge. Now, one could readily argue that some of the cars competing in that even are worth WAY more than $2k...a few I've seen could certainly be worth the $25k if you factor in machining and fab time. My point is that it is VERY possible to take a pre-1990 car, invest $25k or less in it and be able to match or beat the Consulier. I'm not saying it would be an overall better car or trying to diminish the Consulier in ANY way (I LOVE them and REALLY want one some day!). I'm just simply stating that you might end up loosing your car to some dude who stuffed a junkyard B18 in a Yugo...

dwh4784
11-07-2015, 02:11 AM
He did say "worth" 25K, pretty sure he means market value. The Consulier in question recently sold for $23,000 real American dollars. What pre-1990 car are you going to challenge that with? I see a really nice big turbo Buick GNX drive past my house all the time, might take the drag challenge but would be a fool to make a go on the road course.

polopharm
11-07-2015, 04:42 PM
That's correct. For instance in a "lemons" or "chump" race it's $500 cars. BUT then you can spend unlimited money on brakes on safety gear, Engine rebuild. Look at what a used lemons car sells for.
I should have also perhaps added a comment about stock or period correct drive train.

But regardless, yeah I am talking about a car that the owner is valuing at 25k or less. And then the 2 events. Equalize things as well.

Ps I will take on that Yugo gladly.

polopharm
11-07-2015, 04:46 PM
I would guess the biggest challenge would be well sorted 5.0 mustangs , never driven a ghls shelby or daytona but I would wonder about them , and of course corvettes.

Nothing European worth 25k or less would come close.

Inter cooler in stock location, but increased the size , moved oil cooler to behind ac condenser, cold air intake is inside driver side tail , like race car 19 , blow off valve added , and catch can and breather are where oil cooler was. ( I don't think it got much air in that spot)

Left the radiator unpainted , I kind of like it this way. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/11/11/b65a3a6ddea3c00c3cf2ef12bd71192c.jpg

We replaced all the hard coolant lines with double layered braided marine hoses, the original ones were corroded from the inside out.
All vacuum lines re plumbed thru a custom aluminum junction box mounted on rear bulk head.
What is the highest boost that can be run with stock ecu? Have the manual adjust/grainger valve.
We keep going into limp mode.

Rrider
11-11-2015, 07:43 PM
What size cooler core?? Over 14psi the stock stock ecms start cutting out.

polopharm
11-11-2015, 08:11 PM
I will get dimensions. It is in stock location so the width is what we increased.
14 psi is right where we got.
Waiting to shake it down this weekend.

I'd back it down a hair, hitting overboost shutdown repeatedly is tough on the engine. Either that or time for an ECU upgrade.

That's cool , such a good tone. Every gtp needs to save that link. Hopefully some how the bidding will go somewhere.
Its very easy for me to see how Warren would have gotten exasperated with the know nothing /negative attitude of general population.

Congrats on the sale, was fun watching that auction and a couple of the others. The Honda Z600 was a neat little car, I could totally see myself driving around town in something tiny like that.

So are you definitely buying the T3 GTP now?

polopharm

Yes buying Mike's car.
The best part of Bat auction vs Ebay is that they add 2 min after each bid that comes in with in the last 5 min.
So no sniping.

New owner has Bmw e30 race cars. Lives in Birmingham al. He like me had never driven or seen a gtp prior to buying one on an auction.

Mikes car is in my garage as of wednesday. Have not driven yet as i am waiting for machine shop to get axles put together. Engine sounds great. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/19/3ce5d8f956d9d7e121374f2bbe8186e3.jpg

Has anyone had any luck adjusting doors ? I loosened up hinge bolts , jacked up door , re tightened , but no real improvement in door fit.

So far some notes between series 1 vs 2.
Series 2 - more head room. The lighter body shell appears to have more waves/ imperfection then the series 1.
Dash is more ergonomically set up.
Engine cover seems much heavier , and it requires a key to open and close as does the frunk, mildly annoying. Engine cover prop is too high making it difficult to open and close.

So far I am in midst of removing stock seats , fitting a roll cage I found at Rossion , just to see if it fits while seats are out. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/19/e2ac2af79ce0e8552c6a4fbb0f6795ef.jpg

Have some leaks and stuff to work on while waiting for axles.

Rossion ' s interior guy is going to stop by to look at doing a lightweight carpet and headliner.

Does anyone recognize these mirrors , they are on the factory t3 car and the hammerhead race car , are they from a stealth? http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/19/628599318d7096a15c0652e22eff5286.jpg

Lastly did anyone ever come across the side scoop the attaches to intercooler on the late model series 2 cars ,if so I will buy it. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/19/2a081ef68a196d6614e452d33990856a.jpg
And also a series 2 drivers side door.
I have a series 1 to trade.
Thanks , sorry for the long post , and will update as I get car back together.

Doing some odds n ends on car. Got sparcos mounted.

Can someone send me pictures of there door and door jam with the white plastic guides. My red car had them. The blue car doesn't.
The help the door close better/ not droop.
I can't remember exactly where they were.

That must look familiar.

Also spoke to long term employee of consulier, said the blue car was ORIGINALLY built with a T3 , which was eventually pulled when they could not source enough.
