Okay, so my machine shop ordered a set of 2.4 forged pistons from JE... they show up and are not for a turbo application. So they guy is offering to let JE fix the problem (God only knows how long that will take) or give me my money back and buy a set somewhere else.

So anyone know where I can get some good forged pistons .020 for my turbo 2.4?? Website? Addy? Phone number?

the weisco 8.8 CR pistons are cheap online at Summit and come w/ rings(thats what I have)
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=WIS%2DK562M88&N=700+115&autoview=sku
you'll have them in like 2 days

or if you want the JE's w/ a lower CR then they are more and you can find them on ebay and places like modern

http://www.modernperformance.com/dcx/srt4_index.shtml

any piston for the SRT4 will work

Okay, Here is what I have come up with so far:

Forward Motion
JE forged Piston .020
$474 with ring set
(302) 658 2829

Howell Automotive
JE forged Piston .020
.048 First and second ring grooves
.141 Oil Grooves
8.0:1 Compression ratio
$499.95
(304) 788-5391

Turbo's Unleashed
Wiseco's
8.8 Compression Ratio
(Approximately) $425

Summit
Wiseco's WIS-K562M88
Top Ring Thickness 1.0MM
Second ring thickness 1.2 MM
Oil Ring Thickness 2.8MM
8.8:1 compression Ratio
$433.69

Howell is very close, and a respected Neons.org vendor. I am leaning a little towards the 8:1 JE's although I may be willing to wait for the Wiseco's to be made custom from Chris at Turbosunleashed. Anyone offer a qualified opinion?

I would go for Chris'. I dont trust Howell as far as I can throw them just based on what people say about some of their services and providing engines. I think the higher 8.8 would be awesome on your car - its light, it has a 4 valve head, etc.

just dont expect much boost on pump gas w/ 8.8 CR (~16psi) w/ low timing.

Modern has 8.5 CR JE's

Also supposedly the best piston you can get is a custom DCR piston(by JE), they have CR of from 7.5- well they can do whatever, lower or higher. I think they stock 7.5, 8.0, and 8.5.

I personally don't like the design of the 8:1 JE's as they are a copy of the factory SRT4 pistons

you'll here both sides and the will work good, just depends on the gas you will use and if you have a way to easily adjust the timing ect...

If your getting a cal and distributor, I would say stick w/ a lower CR

Megasquirt and spark.... That's the plan. Any opinion now?

Actually I guess I should qualify what I am asking about with ther full facts.

This will be a 2.4 motor with a INDY ported and polished cylinder head with stock sized valves. Mexican turbo manifold (Log style) and a Holset HY 35 turbo. I currently have 72 PPH injectors. And it will be running on a 3.55 FD ratio 5 speed neon NVT 350 tranny with an OBX lsd.

All of this is going in a 1986 Shelby charger that will have a full interior, and I may add a bolt in rollcage. ~~Heath

Because I knew what you were running and were probably planning to do a knock option using the one guy's board along with Megasquirt thru RSAutosports, I stand by the 8.8:1... it would be awesome. There are TM guys using 8.5:1 on their 8v without problem with fueling is in tune. 8.8:1 is nothing on this head... the pentahead is way more condusive to higher CR.

After talking with Chris, I had felt that I was probably going to buy from him anyway. He has sold me almost everyhting new that I have purchased so far for the car anyway.

I'm going to go call the machine shop now to get my money back.

Well, looks like JE is going to make good on the pistons after all. The machine shop called 2 minutes ago and the 8.5:1 custom pistons we ordered will be here wednesday.

YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which pins do the wiseco pistons run? Are they the stock srt pin or other?
