Sorry if this is not in the right spot....Just wondering what you guys use to clean up the engine bay. Any suggestions? and what kind of paint do you recommend for painting valve cover and such?

i use cheap foamy sh1t for cleaning, and then a cup and bucket of water to rinse it all off.

Depends on how far you're going. If it's really nasty, Easy-Off oven cleaner does a pretty good job, but it can remove paint. Generally the Foam-Brite and parts store engine cleaners seem to work about the same, and I haven't seen them remove paint. Then I just hit it with the power washer at the carwash. Check your local regulations, some places make it illegal to wash your engine. Also try not to hit your distributor directly, the car doesn't really like that. Might as well bring a screwdriver and a rag to wipe it out in case you do.

For paint, I've had really good luck with VHT and Dupli-Color engine paints. As long as you prep properly, it's not coming off.
