Description: Pig in a poke; The idioms pig in a poke and sell a pup (or buy a pup) refer to a confidence trick originating in the Late Middle Ages, when meat was scarce, but cats and dogs (puppies) were not. The idiom pig in a poke can also simply refer to someone buying a low-quality pig in a bag because he or she did not carefully check what was in the bag.

Anyone following my CSX build thread knows I picked up the GLHS and a Rampage a few months ago in Maine during a "divorce sale" The seller told me he had two 87's at one time; one that was rusted out and crushed but had all the Shelby items (VIN 580214 badge number 857) and another that was rust free (VIN 577600) but missing the dash badge. He was under the impression it was acceptable in Maine to swap VIN's as long as it was the same body, which is to the best of my knowledge a federal felony.

When I picked up the GLHS and the Rampage we were VERY pressed for time. Vehicles were loaded on trailers, bill of sales were made out, hundreds of parts were packed into all four vehicles and I was assured all the paperwork and tags were in the glove box of the GLHS. My plan was to simply reinstall the correct VIN (577600) and fender tag and save the car.

Not exactly how things are playing out.

When I had time to check the car out the "577600" VIN and fender tag was missing. The seller is unresponsive at this time, at best he said the pieces were long gone.

So I currently have a rust free GLHS body (577600) with a Maine title and Chrysler and Shelby door tags intact. The fender tag is missing and I have the fender tag, VIN and dash badge from 580214 badge number 857.

This is all full public disclosure so there is no funny business. JT has already been given a heads up so he can note the VIN's for SDAC.

Options are the car is to be used for parts or you live in a state willing to re-VIN the vehicle and you wish to go through the trouble. I'm not sure if you get the same VIN or you get a state issued one, I would imagine that would vary by state.

The car is as you see it in the pictures- The k-frame had been taken out for cleaning, new bushings and painting. It has a manual rack installed. It has new brakes on the front. There is a set of louvers with brackets in the trunk along with a GLHS radiator and fan. It comes with a 525 and linkage (not sure if all is there or not, I took all the l-body linkage that came with the deal and put it in the trunk) it comes with a shortblock I was told was in the vehicle but have not verified it yet. I do have a cylinder head with 2-piece intake and turbo that I'm told came with the car. It looks like an 87 GLHS assembly. The car will come with four 87 GLHS wheels (not shown) The wiring under the hood does look like it is all there and I can check the intake to see if the injector sub-harness if there. The drivers door is all there, I had to take apart the door to swap out the latch for the Rampage. The Rampage latch didn't have the tab for the outside handle as it had been converted to door poppers and I converted it back.

It also comes with the two fenders shown and TWO front nose pieces off 87 GLHS. It also comes with spare seats front and rear that I assume are from the rotted GLHS. The owner was driving the car when he decided to take it apart to restore it, he got as far as the k-member, rack and brakes when real life intruded.

I have tried to cover everything to the best of my ability, if you have any questions feel free to ask. If there are no takers for the car as a whole it will be parted out this fall and scrapped. Intake, rad/intercooler, wheels and several other GLHS items are usually in demand and I feel that the price is not unreasonable with all the rust free sheetmetal.

Would consider trades and/or cash as well.

Looks like a good project if some state can fish through the titles and stuff!

If I get no offers for the car whole I'll start parting it out at the end of August, there has been several people interested in individual pieces.
