At Idle my car seems not have any power steering. When I get it up to about 1500-2000rpm it is fine and the PS is good but at idle it acts like it doesn't have it. Is there something causing it or is this just the way the cars are? Car is still very driveable just alittle harder to turn in parking lots and stuff. This is on a 88 Shelby Z.

Your pump is tired.

True^
But if you're talented with tools and have a bit of time on your hands, you could remove the pump, both lines, and belt, remove the fitting on the pump where the pressure line goes to. Be very careful to pay attention how it all came apart, drill the fluid passage size out a little, (3/32"s usually works fine). Clean it very well, reassemble it and reinstall it. This should bring back the flow issue at idle and not affect normal driving either.:thumb:

If I ever removed the pump I could just replace it. I wouldn't mess with redrilling it. I mean it takes all that work to take it out why not just replace it.

My Shadow did the same thing when I got it. I replaced the pump and flushed out the system. Never had a problem again. Pickup a new high pressure line while you are at it. If it isn't leaking now, it will be after you disturb it during the pump replacement.
