I have a leak on my PTGT.

I talked to a friend who told me that the SRT4 guys called that a "Factory Boost Leak" and to cap it.
After capping it I got a check engine light with the code P1188 (The Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a significant difference between the Throttle Inlet Pressure (TIP) sensor signal and the BARO sensor signal.) I pulled over and did some research on the code and found a vacuum line diagram that told me that line went to the TIP sensor. As soon as I got home I took the cap off and am currently resetting the check engine light to see if that fixes it.

I went to the local auto parts store and asked for a new rubber cap and was informed that part couldn't be found there and had to be purchased from a dealership. I find this very hard to believe, but I don't know what that piece is called to do any more research.

I'll have to see what size it is and see if i have a spare. I have similar 90's from a bag of old scrap vacuum bits.
They are glued to the plastic tubing, but I've been just fine with using a small zip-tie. You can use regular vacuum tubing the same size, but would end up in a greater radius.

Most parts stores do (or used to) have a Help! kit with an assortment of vacuum connections, but they quickly break down from the heat. Check the dealership, or hit up junkyards.

I had it wrapped in electrical tape and zip tied but it was still leaking air like a sieve. If you have one lemme know! I'll pay you for it.

Maybe the parts store I went to just had some ------- working the counter today. I normally get great help from that store, but I've never seen the guy who helped me today. As I left his said "follow your bliss" and that confused me a bit.


Good news! My check engine light went away, my boost doesn't lag or sputter, and it seems to run a bit better than it was before we capped it. I think that will fix most, if not all, of my problems.
I did find this line broken today as well, I'll need to find a place to order the hose. It's the one with a zip tie.

I spent an hour at the local Dodge dealership today and got no where. The parts guy had no idea what that line was called and their help department didn't know what line he was talking about. He said that they don't carry the rubber boots in stock and I'd have to replace the entire line. I left after an hour of them not being able to locate that line to see how much it costs. One of their mechanics came out and put a shorter boot on that stopped the leak, but it's half an inch too short and I feel like it will blow off with any pressure.
I'm going to another parts store on my way home today to see if they have any in stock.

It has a zip tie on it right now. I'd like to replace it with the correct piece, but three parts stores and the dodge dealership have failed me on finding the replacement piece. I don't understand why this piece is so hard to find? Maybe I don't have the right key words to search for.

The O'reilly's I work at keeps a assorted pack of those vacuum elbows in stock.

I'll call them and see if they have any in stock. I don't often shop at O'Rielleys because the ones here have a bunch of jackasses working who don't like to help anyone.

The dealership should have a binder catalog that will have diagrams for various areas of the car, with each piece of the car numbered, and that number will correspond to a part number they can then search. Somewhat tedious, yes, but I was able to use it to track down some of the body plugs and various other parts for my GLHS. And if the books still had an '87 Charger, I would think they'd have the book for something newer like yours.

You would think so. The guy called some specialist number to help him find the part and the "specialist" said that there is nothing like a TIP solenoid on my car so I must have added it myself. Seriously.

I found a boot that works! It was at O'Reilly's. The people behind the counter were about the same amount of help, but after some searching I found one that fits.
