Rebuilding my 2.2 and the shop removed this part from the oil filter area. So I just thread it on or should I add loctite or rtv or pipe sealant to the threads? Service manual didn't say.

Pipe thread sealer.

I used red loctite and tightened it up to 30 foot pounds. I couldn't find any specs either, but you want it to stay in the block during routine oil service, that's why I chose the red loctite and torque "spec"

Loctite red and crank it in.

My FSM specifies high-temp pipe thread sealant, but if Gary says red Loctite, I ain't gonna argue.

Anaerobic sealer will work just fine too and you don't have to worry about it plugging a passage.

I just use high temp pipe sealant by Permatex.

I didn't use anything. The bypass valve in the oil filter leaks more than that will ever leak

I ended up using some PTFE pipe thread sealant I had in the garage. Should be fine, the stuff is good to 600 degrees.
