I need to remove the black trim around the rear window in my 89 CSX to paint it. I looked at it briefly last year and didn't see an easy way to remove it. have any of you removed this trim and can tell me how to do it without damaging the pieces?

Yeah I've removed many of them. It is a little tricky. You need to obviously remove the plastic front fascia with the two or three screws exposing the metal hinge. You also need to remove the button screw in the rear portion of the glass. Then you need to push out the glass quite a ways to expose several screws that are hidden by the trim. You also need to remove the small finishing button on the top portion of the skinny part of trim. After all the screws are out you will slide the rear fat portion of the trim outward and rearward, and slide the small skinny top trim portion out of its fastener. Don't break that fastener, as they are tough to find and pretty fragile.
Good luck,
Todd

Sounds like I may be better off taping everything off well and painting it on the car. my luck I'd break something. Maybe next time I'm at the pick and pull I'll try it out on a JY shadow if they have one.
