Looking to buy an 88 CXS-T with a main seal leak. Would I be able to make a long trip in it if I add oil as I go and also add Bar Leak or something similar? Thanks.

How much is it leaking? To be honest, you'll make it so long as you stop to top it off before running too low. The biggest problem other than running out of oil that I can see would be contaminating the clutch disk and having a slipping clutch to boot.

Also, don't put any stop leak etc. in there. Just run it. Less trouble in the long run. I wouldn't want to see what that stuff would turn into after being run through the turbo.

Thanks. Would prefer just to add oil. Don't know how much or fast it is losing oil.

A "stop leak" that swells the seals _MAY_ work for a while... Generally rear main seals don't lose much unless something is really wrong.

You can try the general stop leaks, saved my --- on a trip from home to Oregon, but you have a clutch, so if its really bad and it won't stop, you'll soak the clutch, then your fubar.
