I need to get a few part dimensions for my car. I need the dimensions and maybe some pictures of the hinges for the front compartment cover. I also need some pictures and dimensions of the brackets that hold the headlights in. Also anyone with the square side markers, could you get me the a part number off the front and back ones. I'm assuming they are off something but can't seem to find anything in the parts list johnny put up. Also the dimensions of the coolant tank that mounts to the front of the engine compartment like a targa. I'll keep this post updated as I come across other parts I need. When I get to working on the car instead of collecting parts I'll start a build thread.

The front compartment cover hinges appear to be fabricated on mine. I can grab dimensions in a few weeks after this weather actually turns to spring.

I replaced my coolant tank. I can send my old one to you so you can make one...use this one to copy....would that help?

Hinges? My front cover (covers the battery/brake booster) has no hinges.

Johnny, that would be cool. Could you send me a pic of the tank when you have a chance. Also how does your cover attach? Mine looks like it has provisions for two clips at the top toward the windshield. There are also two posts molded into the body toward the bumper that look like a hinge would bolt to it.

Here is the tank.

So where did you get the nice shinny one?

Johnny

Had it made here in Coos Bay at a fab shop.
but needed parts off the old one to complete it.

Sound good johnny, shoot me a PM and let me know how much shipping is. No hurry so whatever is cheapest.

Johnny

I have your address, will mail it to you.
Should fit in a $12 flat rate box.

I also need some pictures and dimensions of the brackets that hold the headlights in.
Had the car up on the rack and took some photos for you.

There is a fiberglass shield that goes behind this but I am missing one. Both are off right now.
This shield protects it from water and dirt.

and a photo of the front side.

Battery/brake Booster hatch cover. This is how mine slips on and locks into place.

Rectangle side markers:
Rear (red) #D31B 15A428-AA SY
Front (amber) #D3TB-15A428-AA SY
These are both Ford part numbers.

Giving this info unless you want to change to this size/style.

My cover has no hinges either.

Thanks for all the info Johnny, I got the overflow tank today so I can add it to my ever growing list of things to get fabbed up. It doesn't look like to crazy of a design for the headlight mount so I should be able to make something up relatively easily. I think I found that style of side marker light when looking through the posted parts list but not the square ones. I noticed the size of your battery, anyone else have a really small battery? My battery hold down is about half as wide as that.

Strange. My front cover has hinges. It's getting closer to better weather and coming out of storage here in the brisk snowbelt. I'll be sure to take pics of the hinges and post them for you.

Wow...these cars are SCREAMING for a headlight conversion of some sort!! It looks like it would be pretty darn easy, too!

I finally got to the car and took a few pics of my hinges. Not get pics, but they are definitely hinges.

I can remove them and see if I can find replacements somewhere if you guys are interested in getting yours converted over to hinges.

Frankenstein has the same front cover hinges.

From what I remember, looking at the ones on mine. The hinges are something that were likely fabbed up in the shop. They are nothing fancy.

Custom indeed. No part number there

I'll have to look at the inside of mine to see if the studs are there. When you have a chance could you measure each piece of the hinge and maybe get a pic from the side that shows the whole hinge so I can get an idea what the angles are unless you have an angle finder you could put on it the measure it.

Just remember....the hinge cover is nice, but then the cover is in the way when you want to get in to the "hole. With the set up like mine, you take the cover off and out of the way. BOTH has advantages, but think about it.

I would go with no hinge like Johnny said it will be much easier to work on and why a hinge just adds weight.
Way easier to fab a couple of bends in a piece of aluminum
#44 has no hinge it slides in on the bottom and has a screw lock type set up to close it.

Mine has never been in the way and we have worked on every piece in there. It hinges far forward for terrific access. If for some reason you need the hinge cover off just take it off.

The fiberglass piece that protects the back side of the headlight area. Here is one of mine, lost the other.
I looked why and it seems the bolts they attache with are gone. The glue they were held on with must have given up the grip.
Photos show the same one, just front and back side of it.

Thanks Johnny. I'll add it to my Consulier pictures folder.

What size radiator cap does the surge tank use? I'm guessing the standard 56mm?

Those headlight backing pieces on mine were only glued on, no screws. I just pulled them while doing tie rods etc. I am going to glue n screw them back on.

So I picked up a Everlast Powerpro 256S Tig/stick/Plasma cutter and am going to start practicing my welding before starting on the gas tank. What thickness would you guys that have had your tanks out say they are? I'm going to try and collect some scrap pieces at work for practice and want to get as close to the tank thickness as possible. I'm guessing somewhere between 11 gauge and 1/8" as that's where most aftermarket tanks fall.

I was apparently about to lose one as well. When I did the front end , the bolt tab things at the bottom were popped away from the body. Looks like they were glued on with something clear more than once. I'm going to try some jb weld or some 3m 5200 this time. Mine also had rtv around the perimeter.

Found this at rossion. Flip flops are size 13. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/06/feceb81790ab3d45140153c63ecf869d.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/06/5bd60409e26371ed9c8e601a02e2313a.jpg
Gtp racing fuel cell. Not exactly same as stock tank but a lot less work. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/06/7815aca9c2dfd8e0144695006366ad42.jpg

Speaking of loose panels , buyer of my red car has inadvertently pulled engine cover hinge off from the rear bulkhead , series 1 is just bonded on. I suggested 2 part marine epoxy , anyone done this already ?http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/06/c76aa6e914f811dbff51f6b3e31ee95d.jpg

I'd say marine epoxy as well. I know the bumper supports are held in with 3m 5200 marine adhesive sealant.
Great for bonding metal to fiberglass but that stuff doesn't dry rock hard, pretty stiff, but not like I'd want an engine cover hinge.
