Same here. And say "if" only because we never know the future.
MY plans are to drive the Consulier there with my friend George.

Look forward to BOTH.

To get to SDAC and back this year would mean devoting 4 days of vacation just for the drive there and back. Doesn't look good but I might have a way yet. I have a brother in VA not too far away that I might make a combi vacation out of.

I've request the week off. I plan on going to Carlisle if I make it to SDAC.

Drag racing at Maplegrove?!

A road rally in that part of the country should be awesome. My wife lived in Pottstown before we got married. We considered moving to Reading before I got a job in Detroit...

Does anybody know the scoop on the on-site camping spots at Carlisle? Debating on doing the whole week, and my Dad wants to go too. He has a big RV, and camping for the weekend at Carlisle is only $35 per site, if you enter the show. We'll need 2 for his big setup, I'm assuming it's all primitive camping... Never been to Carlisle before...

Also, I hope they post up camping options for SDAC as well, if we're taking that big rig out there, we're going to camp the whole week...

I'd like to book the same place for both. It'd make it easier not to have to change hotels. There may be problems with this. First off, it looks like Lancaster and Carlisle are 80+ miles apart with Harrisburg in between them. From Harrisburg to Carlisle is about 20 miles.

The motels in and around Carlisle charge almost double their normal rate for the days of the event. It is not unusual to see rates of $130 or more per night in Carlisle.

To stay outside of Carlisle has another problem. In the morning, driving from the turnpike to the Carlisle fairgrounds is 10-15 minutes. In the evening going the other way, with everyone else leaving at about the same time, that same drive is often more than an hour (it is stop & go the entire distance). Now I haven't been to Carlisle in a few years, but friends I know that still go, say not much has changed in that regard.

And I should add, that staying at the SDAC host hotel for the SDAC event should certainly be highly considered. There is so much going on at the host hotel that driving from it every evening makes it seem like "I'm really missing out on something."

Lancaster has one main road, rt.30, and is very touristy, which is good for families but traffic is bad and being Fourth of July week, it will probably be worse. Make sure your cooling system is working well.

Lancaster PA is about 14 hours drive for me - so somewhat doable. From previous experiences, how rowdy is the host hotel at night? What nightly rate can I expect to pay?

Wife and I would like to try to get down this year, but not convinced I need to stay in host hotel, especially since wifey won't want to do SDAC 24/7.

Any fellow Atlantic Canadian planning on attending ?

Encouraging words, thanks ! Atlantic Nationals is scheduled July 9-12, so I need to decide if I can attend both and if I want the Daytona to make the trip to SDAC or take the family sedan. I haven't had the Daytona out for more than a 300 mile trip in 1 day before - but I can't imagine attending my 1st SDAC event without my car.

"Shelby" Daytona here....living in Atlantic Canada I've seen maybe 1 true numbered car...regardless, would like to bring the daytona if I have the confidence it would make the long trip. I'm not handy enough to diagnose and fix an issue if it stranded me on the road - may opt for the peace of mind and take the wifes 2010 sebring (with a/c) or the pt cruiser so I can load up with some spare parts....we'll see. Besides, trying to maintain the daytona in car show clean mode for 4 days is also a PITA !

If anyone feels like breaking out the tents they are welcome to stay on my property. I do have some major stipulations.....no alcohol or smoking on my property, nothing illegal of course, limit foul language if my kids are outside playing, and quiet after 10pm (local ordinance actually). I realize that cuts it down to like 3% of the turbo mopar crowd, but the offer is out there and will cost you nothing to stay here. I'm 5 minutes drive from the fairgrounds and I'll even leave the side door open for morning and evening bathroom usage. I have a fair amount of land to spread out many tents and accomodate 6-8 cars for parking (and 2-3 trucks with trailers).

PM me if you need a free place to crash and can follow these simple rules :)

I think I will be going this year also, already have the time off if I want it. Depends if I can get a car ready for it by then. The Lebaron runs but is 3 years of beating on it is starting to show in the engine and suspension. Considering throwing my running stock V6 into Project Lookout and taking it so Chris Grimm can see it actually running :D but, it only has 2 seats and I think my wife and daughter both want to come along. Decisions decisions. Last SDAC I went to was 17 in Pittsburgh, and I swore I'd not go again unless I could take my own car.

Will you guys be sorting out the host hotel on your meeting agenda?
I'm sure I'm not the only one anxious to know and try to make plans.

Has anyone made any reservations at any local hotels yet? While we're waiting for the host hotel to be announced I figure I might as well make some reservations that I can at least cancel afterwards.....July 4th weekend will be busy enough - don't want to wait until last second to get a decent price on a room.

Well, we planned on brining both cars again this year, but if I don't get this problem figured out soon so I have time to get it painted before then. Running hot only over about 45-50 mph when it's over 80°, I think it's the aftermarket fan that I installed late last fall restricting air flow @ road speed. Once I slow down, the temp comes right back down and even sitting @ stop lights in hot weather it's fine.

Hi everyone. As some of you know I have been taking my 83 Shelby Charger to SDAC for many years since I bought it in 83 but this year I plan on attending with my son's 87 GLHS. He has been gone with the Air Force for the past 4 years and the car just sits in the garage begging to go to SDAC since we finished it 4 years ago. He has many people to thank for it's completion since we finished it while he was gone. We are really excited for you all to see it. I am looking forward to seeing you all this year. A few of us are leaving from Pittsburgh Sunday afternoon. Anyone is welcome to caravan with us. (it will be a turbo caravan!) Bill

Well the dates and location have been set so you should be able to book your trip. The only think left is hotel which there will be rooms to book at, it's not like they fill up in the first hour. The SDACs I've gone to have have always had very reasonably price accommodations so I can't imagine it being extremely different. I've booked my flight since I know the dates and that is the hardest thing for me to get.

you coming this year gary?

worked on it again today.

used an old subaru fuel pump and a 32oz cup and pumped CLR through the fuel lines. they were rusty inside. i looped the feed and return together under the car and bypassed the fuel filter with clear vinyl hose. lots of rusty nasty stuff came out.

then i flushed them with the garden hose. then i grabbed another old subaru fuel pump and cleaned out the 32oz cup and pumped wd40 through the same setup. tank was clean minus 3 small rust spots inside. wire brushed them with a fine stainless golf ball brush lol and wd'ed those spots.

got a new walbro 255 high pressure from cindy. fuel system should be good to go.

then comes the rehooking up everything in the dash and engine bay. shouldnt take too long.

engine is still the same stock 2.5 with forged slugs but now with cindys bolt in 50 trim with the custom housing, a ported 2piece intake, custom rail and 75lb injectors and a obx lsd in a 93 3.77 523.

ill have to make myself a new cal.

i want to put the a/c back in so i have all new lines for that.

if time allows ill put in a honda 3 core rad and my spearco intercooler thats been sitting in the garage for years.

the intent is fast enough not to destroy itself and comfy and cool inside lol.

Hey Jim,
SDAC won't be picking a motel for Carlisle. Rooms are already in short supply there and many places will likely sell out.

But don't wait, make your Carlisle room reservations ASAP, if you wait, all that will be left are the most expensive rooms.

Is this part of a larger event which includes other makes/models i.e. ford, bmw, whatever...? I keep reading about Carlisle and I think i've got them mixed up or something. I thought someone mentioned something about making sure to say you are with SDAC so there is a tent, which suggests its part of a larger event?!?!??!?!!!!!?!?!?!?!??!??!?!?!?!

If so, is SDAC the only part of it which is TM related?

Regardless, is this the sort of thing where vendors sell stuff?

How many people show up?

And how does one become a vendor?

I couldn't justify going myself (I think Lancaster, PA is about the furthest location from me in the USA), but maybe I could work out a deal with a vendor who is going, to take a cut of selling my wares. Does anyone do that?

Carlisle holds about a dozen or so shows over the summer. This one is the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals. Usually over 2000 Mopars there (of every model and age). The Shelby Dodge/TM crowd will be a small part of the overall Chrysler show. There is a huge swap meet also. Small time vendors, like yourself, usually sell from a space in the swap meet.

They have a manufacturers midway there with the bigger vendors, but that space has to be pricey. For answers to specific questions about the show, admission pricing, swap space pricing, etc, go to http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/carlisle-events/carlisle-chrysler-nationals/default.aspx

We ask folks to register there as SDAC club affiliation because Carlisle will provide a 20' square tent for the club in the area where its cars are parked. There must be at least 25 people attending from a club in order to get the tent for free, otherwise, they will charge for the tent.

Thanks. Looks like a single 10x30 section in the Midway runs $865, and a swap meet spot $90. If you have a product(s) with broad appeal the 10x30 seems like a good deal. SDAC-25 is not at Carlisle though right? Its in Lancaster at a totally separate event? (its own?)

Yes, SDAC-25 is our own event entirely dedicated to Shelby Dodges and Turbo Mopars! :thumb:

Due to SDAC-25's proximity to the Carlisle Chrysler show, it makes a nice combination of two events for a fun filled week!

Anyway they had no rooms left under the SDAC block, but they did honor the $70/night. Which was good because regular was $130/night!
My little brother Dan is trying to make it too, but if something happens i may end up with an extra bed.

Alan my son got me to go the first time when he was that age. My 83 sat covered up in the garage for years till he showed the interest. He is 23 now and lives 1500 miles away so he can't attend but he tells me our SDAC trips were some of his favorite memories. I am taking his 87 GLHS that we restored together this year but I wish it was him going instead of his car. Cherish the good times with him because it will be good.

Glad that worked out. Our SDAC "block" was opened up this week as the hotel policy is they only hold blocks until 1 month before the event. The good news is they will still honor our rate and give us credit, so anyone making s reservation, please be sure to mention the SDAC block to get the rate. The hotel is filling up so if you need a room grab it quick!

That's a haul Johnny! Having someone else on the trip makes such a huge difference, even if they're driving their own car. Pure solos are OK but they can get old after 2000 miles. Tracy's never been up that way, so she wanted to take Friday to drive up and then get there on Saturday. The Friday night hotel is like $140 or so? I don't want to pay that and she doesn't want to drive 13 or so hours at once, which I don't blame her. Probably take a long day Friday, recoop with a shower and nice dinner somewhere and then finish up the next day to arrive Saturday around noon or so. Still haven't decided which way to go either.

ill be in AC one way or another. the k car will have AC soon. i have all the parts sitting there... finalizing up the intercooler piping before installing everything else.

if i dont get the k car done in time, ill be in the neon... with ice cold AC.

When did Set 16 and Set 46 Timkin Bearings become so hard to find? I had to go to three different stores before I could come up with the inners and outers for both sides unless I wanted to settle for cheap China-made bearings.
