It *had* to be a looong time ago, look how much hair you had:lol:

It seems wrong with all the fabrication and custom work you guys did to comment on something as simple as the valve cover but that orange one was smooth as glass:eyebrows:  That must have been more than a few coats of hand sanded primer:thumb:

Haha well I was thinking of you when I re sized them I actually found an addition to windows that allows you to mass select pictures and re size them. Only problem with this was that it actually creates a duplicate file with the same name, just a smaller image size none the less it was still a big time saver considering there is over 100 pictures !

If anyone would still like to have the original sizes please don't be afraid to ask I just have to make the folder available...see if I can get that done for you later on.

By the way I would like to point out for those of you who are interested in the clutch set up....there is the product number for the clutch, pressure plate and flywheel in those pictures above.

Seriously though, no one makes a light weight I shaft gear (though many have talked about it, Hint Hint) and after seeing the difference the changes I made on the Charger went, this is now what I do on any serious build that's going 400+WHP and wanting to take as much advantage of weight reduction as well as recip mass on the engine.

Which reminds me, how did you do at SDAC, or did you not run your Beast yet? Is it just me, or has this been the quietest SDAC Ever? I don't see any real posted results anywhere. No quick 8, (other than 1 or 2 that ran) No result on any of the faster cars.

I would like a lightweight I-shaft gear and a lightweight STOCK sized accessory pulley....

We have a contact who has offered to machine a TU brand of cam/I shaft gears. I am sure pulleys will not be a problem either. Return on investment is minimal when compared to other performance options though. The million dollar question is, "If we build them will they sell?"

That's funny to see this as it's what I'm going to do on my engine builds too. I really liked the low recipricating setup in my old 8v 2.5 and hadn't gotten around to doing the t-belt gears yet. Just the UDP, flywheel, valve train at the time. I've been picking up gears as available to do it to all my motors though.

I shaved over 1/2 lb off my timing belt crank pulley :) Lots of weight but not much centrifigul force acting on it, but every bit counts. :)

Being a 2.5l and knowing what Nick's goals are for the car, I Really wanted to have double the displacement in the plenum and this is Very close. I think I displace measured it down to 4.9l plenum. Either way, Really happy with how it turned out.

Really too bad you can't buy THIS version of the BMF "off the shelf" :( as it solves So many issues all at once.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for posting in the thread and keeping it alive, don't be afraid to hijack the thread so many good things can come from it haha !

I am very pleased with the way the car is turning out and the goal is to ultimately go out and bust an 11 ( high or low ) full body full interior plane jane 8 valve with a 5 speed.

I think things will start slow at about 15-20 psi and we will go from there. I am expecting to see a 13 sec run right off the bat ! haha ! and eventually and most of all GRADUALLY put the car into the 11's. if it takes me three years so be it ! a second a year !

mad thanks to all who have contributed to this build

In all seriousness though, the gears are no different than the factory pieces, so I'm not sure what you're referring to, but I can only guess that you're thinking of the earlier cam and I-shaft gears that had the one sided backing to act like a belt guide?

The only guide I am aware of on the round tooth sprockets is the double sided belt tensioner.

rx2mazda

Ahhhhh the TIII tensioner doesn't have that. It's on the i-shaft and exhaust cam gear lol

Yep 4" all the way to the dump.

Several venders sell the HE351 V-band ring. Bit of a piss off actually as it is used in more than just one application (I'm guessing) so the ID does Not match the HE351 properly. It's like an 1/8" smaller all the way around. Nice to find this out after paying 65.00 US + shipping for it!

Had to open it up a bit..........

The most amazing thing so far is the out of boost response and power. Crisp Crisp, and you'd think you were 2-3lbs into boost the way it effortlessly moves the Daytona. Makes the car feel Light as a feather!

5000km break in :)

I think what Nick meant to say is that the car is driving around "untuned" for WOT, but part throttle is fine.

We won't know what the lowest boost is going to be until it gets stepped on and that won't happen for a few more km's (not quite 5000, But it could be 5000 IF Nick Really wants it to be ;))

I think some confusion between when to switch to full synthetic got mixed up in there somewhere.

Still needs a catch can and there are a few other odds and ends that need doing and if everything checks out when there is nothing left to do, then it will be time to tune WOT :)

On a cold day like this morning for instance, starting the car letting it come to operating temp for 7 min I had about 15 vac. but once driving it will hover between 17-19 vac. I am so impressed with this motor, I'll take another video today after I put the power steering belt on.

doing some very mild tuning on the car and seeing that 21 psi, knowing that the car cant be street driven on that amount of boost is just insane. Literally you need drag radials to have any sort of traction, thanks for helping me tune the car and giving me amazing pointers yesterday!. I swear sometimes I have to have you there to slow me down and bring me back to reality when it comes to the car and I know this car is going to blow people's minds I hope everyone is a patient as I have come to be with seeing the results.

Same as the Charger, but running one 3/4" ID hose instead of the hose stepping larger like the Charger does to the breather box. If you look closely at Nick's video you can see the two fittings on the front of the V/C and the hose going to the catch-can.

Simple as that, just vented to atmosphere. :amen:

It's Hilarious that the stock boost gauge is still in there! Just for the passengers and audience to gawk at! lol

You are correct. the turbo is seeing Full boost signal to the W/G right now, so this is the laziest lowest boost possible. Through the 4" dump full spool 20+psi is about 4000rpm running Fat to keep it safe till we dial in the tune.

Although Nick is keeping it to 15psi on pump 91 because we were seeing some knock @ 21psi. That's why the part throttle PUZZY footing around..............Right Nick?!

So after a long and tedious break in on the motor finding several small things that needed to be tweaked. We finally made down to the track to see what the car could do on a very mild pump gas tune.

I'd like to thank first and foremost Shadow for the tremendous help with coaching me on how to stage properly and get my groove going !:amen:

I'm proud to say that I have now taken the Manitoba Daytona Shelby record that was held by another member of our turbo dodge team Luigi for 12 years at 13.1@ " " Hopefully Rob can shed some light on this part haha.

Ran 14.7 first run then I broke an axel "driver side" but after inspecting it a bit with Rob we saw it had a previous crack in it !. Shortly after we ran 13.7. After lunch I got into my groove a bit and finally wrapped off a 12.62! Couldn't be happier today !

Things that were done to the car for the runs today

19psi boost

Added a few gallons 110 to be safe

Low 7-8 degree base timing to be safe

10 - 10.8 AFR's to be safe.

6000rpm max to be safe

Against 35km/ hr headwind

Full bodied with race buckets

Yeah, I cleaned that down good with brake cleans before taking the pic. The areas you see that have rust on them ARE rusted. This axle was fractured and starting to rust into the fracture before Nick finished it off.

Interestingly enough, I have never run axles with the damper on.(maybe once out of necessity, but brand new axle IMS) Looking at this break, it would seem that it is definitely a moisture/ corrosion trap.

Having the knowledge and experience of having done something is the Easy part. Passing it on to others is difficult.

Most either can't get beyond the "bad habits" of the past, or the ideology that they know a Better way of doing things, so they can Never Fully Embrace what you are trying to show/ teach them.

You did what very few can do. You took all of my critique, which would Offend most and then you did something More.............You Believed it was possible! (This was the Most important part!)

So don't sell yourself and Your part in all of this Short. In the end, You pulled it off, I was just happy to be there and help in any way I could ;)

I actually just started her yesterday for mid winter, those forged pistons and the .30 board over don't like each other very much haha! but regardless even in the summer time I always wait for the car to come to operating temp before I drive it.

how do you like your hurst shifter and would you buy it again if you had a reason ??

I would buy it all over again for myself in general it has shortened the shift strokes dramatically and allows you to change the length of your shift rod. there was extensive mods to the factory shifter base mount inside the car to make the SRT-4 hurst shifter fit.

I should add that you should get the poly bushings because this shifter will demolish the factory ones !, after the second time of having to reach up and put the car into a gear and drive it home, I was pretty pissed lol.

Hey Nick, good to see you posting again, getting anxious for spring?

Its killing me haha I miss driving the car, I finally purchased that adjustable wastegate actuator that you mentioned for the HE351CW. its going to be exciting ! Need to do a crazy front end shake down like its no body's business LOL feel like the car is going to fall apart when boost hits !

hey much thanks for the input .. and the pics

I have a charger so I'm hopeing I can use the srt shifter bracket , UNDER the floor pan with the bottom of the shifter and the cables completely mounted below floor level

but I still need to get one of the srt brackets just to compare the cable clip mounting points vs the daytona style bracket
if the same I think I can figure out the bracket mounting below the floor easy enough

There was some minor bending involved where the cables slide into on the base
