ok, it's not a Mopar, but this makes for interesting viewing. Photos plus lots of video footage on the resto of a car with lots of rust! (and whats relevant here - few aftermarket panels available - not like some of these restos where they just buy every bit brand new)

Anyway, its here:

Wow. I just watched the 1st one. New creative juices are flowing now. I have a friend that does nothing all day....I have a mini DV cam.... I have a Shelby who's new parts are stacking up....

That guy is doing an incredible job. He's also spending a good chunk of time editing videos!

They're all great. Can't wait for new ones to come out with something other than body patching.

He posted a few days ago and said he had to go somewhere, but when he came back he would have several DV tapes to process. :)

Yeah, did you notice them 'leading' at one point?

Learning how to do leading is on my to-do list, a billion times better than filler :) Tricky on vertical surfaces though ...

Agreed. Hey, he threw some more pictures up and says a new video should be out this week!

The best way to learn is by doing. I took autobody classes in the summer between college to learn how. Was well worth the money and time spent.

The pictures on that site are very helpfull to at least give you ideas on whats going on. Some of the repairs aren't exactly how I would do a show car, but they work.

That's awesome.

In video 5, right at 2:47, what is that stick they are using and where can you get that at?

That's lead. What we were refering to above. :) Apparently you can get it in Switzerland or Sweden, where ever the videos are from. Been illegal here in the states for some time. Prolly could still find it somewhere, but I don't know.

You can still get lead in the states, but now most guys will use the lead free body solder, instead of regular old lead.

I hate that site, they banned me. I miss my SBC powered 280Z; I sold it to a guy that is swapping in a SBM. I will post pics for you guys when he's done.

Yeah...I'm a little bored with the sheet metal work too.

Regarding lead:

I'm working at a company that makes all kinds of electronic safety equipment. They have a lot of bars of 63/37 solder. The bars are about an inch square and maybe a foot long. I don't think I could get any, but I could ask if anyone knows where I can find some.

But I don't know if the bar solder for car work would be the same as the solder used in electronics. These bars don't have flux in them. They're meant for wave solder machines.

"lead body solder is illegal in the USA"? It's only illegal if you get caught!:thumb:

Seems to me that I've seen them use it a thousand times on American Hotrod... someone needs to check out Boyd Coddington's shop... get that bastard shut down lol

It was a lot of work to rebuild that car, but it'll never win any awards in a car show like the Mopar Nats OE Gold certification or anything, for example. I didn't see any reproduction panels being used, although there probably aren't any for a Datsun. I don't know, I didn't look it up.

I didn't like their way of making a new front frame. And I didn't see them putting the car on a frame rack either to straighten it out after all their "repairs". Yes, it'll allow the car to drive, but it's far from factory correct.

Must be nice to have so much money that you can't think of anything better to do with your time.

If you look at the name of the site they're hosted on, its called 'Hybrid Z', not 'Anal retentive Z restorers' ;) I love to see properly restored cars, but really, you can't have any fun in them without adding some blemishes. How many Mopar Nats OE Gold certificated cars get a good thrashing up the strip?

Yeah, he's building some sort of race car....not a concourse winner.
