Felt like a stalker taking these. Couldn't get any better because of not wanting to be seen, and taking pics while driving a jeep at 75 is not easy...or safe. I would have offered $$$ had this been spotted stopped. Its NOT a TC top modified, but I don't know what it is. Looked to use a convertible rear window.

It almost looks like a light weight clip on fiberglass piece that goes on overtop the soft top. The opera window would suggest I'm wrong, though.

no, no, I think you could be right. I didn't have a chance to look closely obviously, but now that you mention it, that opera window looks kinda fake?

Why oh why couldn't I find one of those when I had my white pos vert. I'd have been inclined more to fix it than scrap it back then.

The TC was shorter. Nothing interchanged body wise. Every car on this board is "built off the same car".

We went to a labrador fest in Mendota early this summer and there was a red GTC with almost the exact top! Never found the owner though.

Very interesting.
It at least stays on when doing freeway speeds.

some 5-7 years ago, JC Whitney WAS selling a hardtop that fit OVER the convertible top on the Lebaron for around $700 and was designed to protect the vinyl top during winter. It had a round 'opera window' on the side just like
the TC top.

Did someone else find a hardtop car or did you ask them over there?

Someone with a holy top wants a new roof but doesn't like the prices for a complete new roof. He was hoping a TC would fit.
Amongst the emails stating the TC won't, was that reply that I quoted.

So basicaly, they just teased the guy with something he can't have lol

So is it like Ean said - its a thin cover that goes over the soft top and thats why it looked to use the convertible rear window - because it is the rear window showing through?

Need more pics!:thumb:

Oh, and do you want to sell it?:love:

well, yes, it's a fiberglass shell over the soft top, using the original convertible rear window, and unfortunality, i had a horrible thing happen monday, exstreme high winds ripped it off my car, i have been everwhere in this car with no problems, but we had some 40/50 mph straight line winds monday, i made a 100 mile trip and was 5 miles from house and it ripped it off. the insurance adjuster was here today and had no clue what it was or what it was worth, i told him the top was worth more than the car, so i am sure i will have a fight on my hands for value, the top is repairable by the right fiberglass person, i am not sure what i am going to do, i just know it sucks!

Good luck. If you sound confident that its a valuable piece, they might believe you. You wouldn't be lying if you'd say it was a rare piece and would be next to impossible to replace! I've been a lebaron nut for a decade and thats the first I'd seen of these things. Bummer its not a complete TC-like hardtop, but oh well.

Thanks, i will try to bring it back to life, you would think with todays technology someone could copy it, and also understand it was removable if you want to i even have a winter storage bag for it.
