Bought this, http://www.ebay.com/itm/281504530580?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Had to modified the material for the Omni's tiny steering wheel which involved cutting and re-stitch because the material is too wide. then I wrapped the material around the steering wheel and laced. Total process took over 5 hours.

Does it feel like leather? I absolutely love leather wheels and that is cheap. Had you done anything like this before?

Does it feel like leather?

No, it's a man-made leather. Feels like somewhere between plastic and leather, feel like a Grant steering wheel material. Though it feels much better than the stock Omni wheel.

PVC leather, also known as polyvinyl chloride, is an original type of imitation leather that is produced by substituting the hydrogen group with a chloride group in the vinyl groups. The result of this replacement is then blended with some other chemicals to create a durable plastic that is also easy to maintain.

I suppose you can buy leather. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Upmarket-Genuine-Buffalo-Hide-Leather-DIY-Car-Steering-Wheel-Cover-Wrap-Needle-M-/251798254682?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3aa058745a&vxp=mtr

Done what? Sewing and stitching? Sure, minimal experience but experience nonetheless. First time on the steering wheel.

Looks like a pretty significant bang for the buck. I think you're the second person to have some good results wrapping your own wheel that I've seen recently. I may give this a try some time.

Lookin' goood! Now you won't burn your hands in the summer. Looks kinda weird getting in your car out there wearing leather gloves! Now you need my portable shade tree cover for the whole car?

Back around 2000 or so I re-wrapped my steering wheel in my Daytona. I had used one before, but I messed it up and it was gray (didn't match the interior at all). I found a black leather cover similar to the one in this thread. It came with the cover, horsehair thread, and a leather needle. I think I accidentally installed it "correctly".

It was a pretty tight fit over the steering wheel and I didn't have time to finish it, so I left it undone for a day while I was at work and the car sat in the hot @ss Florida sun. Later that evening I finished lacing it up (the leather was still warm) and it fit perfectly! Once it cooled down it shrunk tight to the wheel. If you didn't know what to look for some may swear it was factory. It's still on the car!

That's what I should do to my wheel. Looks great.
