Is this the correct gasket for my 87 Shelby Lancer ? Just wanted to verify before spending $40 on a gasket I can't use :)

EDIT: I think I posted this in the wrong section.. I thought this was the tech section lol.

I'm pretty sure the 1 piece only works for the common block pans. Yours is an earlier one. You are stuck with using the rubber end pieces and RTV for the rails.

Yep, no one piece for earlier engines, only CB.

What can I look for to verify it is the earlier block ? Or is it not possible to swap in a common block ?
I just want to be sure no one swapped in a later block at some point. I'm on my phone and not having much luck with google.
:)
Thanks,

If its the original motor its non commonblock and will have a fuel pump block off plate to the left of the oil filter above the alternator in that area. 89+ motors are commonblock.

Is the crank gear pressed on or bolted on? Square timing belt?

Look at the oil pan shape… The Common block has a half round shape on the front end, rounded off square on the rear end. The early block is the same rounded off square shape on both ends.

I always found it hard to tell unless they were side by side, lol.
The CB also has a small 6mm bolt at the front by the oil filter.
