Just wondering if anybody has been stopped by the cops just to see the car ..?
I know it used to happen during MT 900 commissioning rides.

I've been pulled over. A few weeks ago. 28 in a 30 ;)
First time I've ever been thanked for stopping. Very surreal experience for sure.

Once by a CHIPS motorcycle cop. Of course I was doing 90 in Frisco during the rush hour. New bike and the speedo was stuck. It was the first Yamama YR1 350 sold, right off the boat. I explained and he looked over the bike and we adjusted the brakes and he told me to be careful with the speedo.
Second time was in a TC at the VA facility. He claimed I was speeding but I told him about the car and left.

Well at least they gave some mildly valid reason for stopping you.

Nothing quite like a 2 stroke street bike.
I rode a 500cc h1 kaw once...figured it would be almost as fast as my gs700e zuk...learned REAL quick how different the power band is on a 2 stroke vs 4 stroke! The burn out in my pants was almost as big as the one the bike left on street when I speed shifted to 2nd.

Driving the 73 Duster, I did have an officer follow me around a parking lot for a few min only to stop behind me when I parked...He leaned out the window and asked what year it was. The look on his face when he saw the blow thru turbo slant six under the hood was priceless!!!

the Mach 3-3 cylinder was my NEXT bike! Bought it in Japan in 1970. They were fast and cammy. You are either in the power band or you aren't. The only wheelie I ever pulled was after I got a price for selling to a dealer. It got 15 mpg in the city and 30 mpg at 90. I always carried hot plugs for the city and cold ngk for the highway for trips. I think the vibrations screwed up radar guns. I pass a radar trap accelerating past 115 mph and they never came after me?

I got stopped in my '88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe once. I wasn't speeding or breaking any laws. The cop simply asked what kind of car it was, then left! LOL Even more funny was it was a giant POS (though mostly reliable). Of course it was a murdered-out car cruising in the 'hood...so who knows...maybe they were looking for somebody.

Surely they weren't interested in the t bird coupe I think they call that profiling.

I haven't gotten pulled over but cops come up to me in Convenience stores and check it out

Depending on where you live you'd be amazed at what people will stop you in. Not in a profiling type of way either. I couldn't stop for gas without at least a 5-10min conversation about my GLHT when I lived in Detroit. During some points in the summer I would only fill up when I had some time on my hands.

I know it's no consulier, but my CSX has gotten me stopped more times in less than a year than I've been pulled over in the rest of my life. I was just stopped near Fleck's place when I was there recently. They see the car go by and end up checking it out etc. The last guy only took my license, no insurance etc. and didn't write me a warning for supposed expired tags which are still valid till the end of the month and have been renewed already anyway.

I was in my GTP in Southern California. From a Main Street I turned into my brothers neighborhood street doing 25 or so, a little quick I guess for a normal car. Went about a block, slowing down the whole way as I was in a neighborhood now. Blue lights turn on, I pulled over. Cop walks up and looks at me kind of funny. He said "oh, your not what I expected". Ends up he though I would be a young street racer type. Said he thought I was avoiding him. Asked if I was from Oregon, why was I heading into this street. I told him I was staying the night at my brothers, then a car show the next day.
He didn't even ask for my license or insurance.
He said he really just wanted to see the car. He walked all around it and asked lots of questions about it, then let me go.

That cop would have been better off shooting a couple innocent people. Wacky.

About a week ago I was out front of a buddies place showing him my GTP, and this was only about 3 blocks from a cop shop and all in school zones, this police cruiser slowly pulls up no lights or anything and the 2 of them started asking questions for about 2 minutes, while about 3 cars were all waiting behind them! I guess you can't really illegally pass a cop car on a 1 lane road in a school zone, so they were stuck!

Driving back from my trip across country this last August to California, Oregon and Washington, heading east on Hwy90 a Washington State cop stopped and asked me what it was. He was really excited about the Consulier and then asked if he could take pictures of it. One of the nicer dealings I've had with a police officer.

Over the weekend, in the back of a '67 Ranchero, I hauled a '73 Norton to a British bike ride up in the mountains above Bakersfield and I was weaving and driving too slow while looking for a residential address on a main road - got lit up by a CHP who, after seeing that I wasn't a drunk and hearing why, asked me about the bike and the car.

got stoped in my 89 CSX for the 3rd brakelight not working, you know the one in the back window disconnected when cars where modified to be csx. got waning to fix it by next day, nothing good happens when cops stop you here.

Speaking of the Amish. A Amish fellow in Lancaster Pa while driving his horse and buggy gave me and my car the thumbs up! That has to be the ultimate compliment

Oh come on, you think that is better than three girls (about age 10) walking out of a 7-eleven and then seeing my car and then all of them pointing and saying to their mom "Look at that car" ....smiles as big as can be, eyes as big as saucers! I look over and ask, You like my Barbie car? They all say "YES", shacking their heads up and down.

^^ lmao. Good one.

Your right Johnny that's pretty touch to beat but come on, an Amish dude! He stands for everything opposite of the Consulier and even he gave it the nod
