So, lets start this of by saying we all love the 2.2l. But could you imagine something like this http://news.epicinter.net/nissan-unveils-worlds-highest-power-to-weight-engine-400hp-from-just-40kg/ it could help with the weight getting closer to 50/50.

I wonder what the intermediate shaft is driving inside the motor since it has a dry sump system on it.

What intermediate shaft? All I see is a toothed idler that drives the external oil pump... If you look at the close-up picture from the back, it's just an idler bolted to a tab hanging off the case.

Cool piece of technology though.
