I recently ordered a 5281064 and 5281065 head gaskets.

The 5281064 was the 'mopar parts' replacement for the P4452005 head gasket. The gasket I ordered and received is dated from mid 2009 and has several order labels stuck to it (so its been shuffled around several times). Its also now showing as being discontinued according to the latest order label from when I bought it. So just a heads up if you are running low on your stash.

The 5281065 I also ordered and received was also quite old, over 12 years from todays date per the sticker on it and it came from some dealers inventory so its probably got an uncertain future as well if the place I ordered from couldn't source one from mopar and had to scour the dealers to find one.

The replacement differential pin for the manual transmissions is also now listed as being discontinued. 5134956AA, the two I received were both dated from mid 2005 and the 5134957AA matching retainer tabs are now also listed as being discontinued. The other ones I ordered per the part number in the KC article 4800013AB were totally not right and I am unsure what they are supposed to fit. Transtar makes a pair of tabs p/n 92717AK that are taller but can be cut down if necessary.

I should probably just order up 20 HGs and be done with it. I need to read up on which one goes with which combination again though. Is there a HG which will work well with any combination of head and block?

Ive used the one with the steam holes both ways with no issue. Im down to my last mp gasket as well. Im thinking of going with a cometic when I use my last one.

Go to a parts store and have them pull one out for you. 9296PT I think is the part number.

Therein lies the problem. Autozone has one in stock and its the old style crap one (looks nothing like the pictures and discussion piece on TD or here). They have ordered a few more times and each one comes in its the same style each time. Nice manager (understanding of the issue of old vs new design felpro) but he can't keep ordering them and returning them. Napa is a waste of time. Advance is as well. Neither one stocks it and its a 'you ordered it and its yours' deal on both. Who knows what you'd get ordering online. Too much old nasty inventory out there and federal will never admit their stuff was junk and recall all the old stock and have it destroyed. $25 each time on a total crap-shoot of whether or not you might finally get a good one ? I'll pony up for the cometic before I waste any more time trying to get this elusive HG if the need ever comes to it.

When I put my engine together I used a mopar gasket. Since #1 burns oil it ate the gasket between #1 and #2. I replaced it with a fel-pro and just pulled the head to install my 2 piece and noticed it looked perfectly fine. I'm not sure why because it still burns plenty of oil.http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj197/thedon809/IMG_20121222_173202.jpg (http://s272.photobucket.com/user/thedon809/media/IMG_20121222_173202.jpg.html)

Brown coolant can't be good.

The water jackets were rusty from the cooling system being open to the elements for god knows how long before I bought the car. It clogged many a radiators.
