I've uploaded my fastest run from GLHS 207 (The black Omni with no stickers and CSXT wheels). I'm hoping somebody got some exterior video and/or pics, as this car seems to be like a sasquatch of autox events.

Some day I'll listen to Johnny and buy a rear sway bar and some wide wheels/tires. Until then, I'm sporting it 1988 style!

Congrats again! I got over 50 pics of your car at the AutoX, and most of them are useable. For those that didn't know, I was the guy walking around with the camera that had a giant white lens attached to it... I sponsored a glossy print up to 24"x14" for each of the major event winners (Best in Show, AutoX, and Quick 8). It was kind of a last minute thing, so it wasn't really advertised. As winner of the AutoX, Clark gets to pick which one he wants. I got several pics of all the other cars that ran too. I'll post a link to them when I've finished processing them and have them all uploaded.

I ended up using 35 out of the over 50 of Clark's Omni GLHS, here they are: http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/josh-bryant.html?tab=artworkgalleries&artworkgalleryid=439780

The rest of the AutoX pics are going to take me a while to go through, I took over 1000!

Nice job out there Clark!

Your driving wasn't too bad yourself. You had the classic P body oversteer-on-braking going on into that final turn. I had no idea if I'd be able to catch you or not. The guy with the black Spirit ES was also hauling some serious ---. I'm sure there's no way I could have kept up with him in my R/T.

What turbo do you guys use for this type of racing?

I go an Album for Group 1 of the AutoX (http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/josh-bryant.html?tab=artworkgalleries&artworkgalleryid=441046) started. At least one picture of each car's run from Group 1 is up. Unfortunately I didn't get very good shots of the 1st run. Dancing around my tripod just didn't work out. It wasn't until I took it off the tripod and climbed up into the tree stand towards the end of their 2nd run that I started getting some really good shots (coming soon). I did however manage to catch the "Silver Bullet" on 3 wheels (http://fineartamerica.com/featured/car-no-48--03-josh-bryant.html) on the last turn of it's 1st run. ;)

Going to work on Group 2's 1st run now, which should be better 'cause I was in the tree by then.

My GLHS has the stock engine and ECM. The key to making it turn is the Torsen differential (a520 trans). In my class, the Neon SRT4 ACR's usually beat me due to the increased torque and better turbo response (and superior driving).

Aftermarket for me, but as you can see with Clark's run, that isn't necessary. You want good power in 2nd and good tires.

There are a few tires that seem to do better than others. If you want to win nationals, you need to run Hoosier A6's. There are a number of street tires that are nearly as good as the Kumho V710's I was running. One of them is the BFG Gforce Rival. Hankook RS3's are good, as well as a few other tires. One thing that makes a HUGE difference is running tires that are less than 2-3 years old (since the first heat cycle). The Kumho Ecsta XS's on my GTS were as good as my V710 slicks when new, but after 3 years they were almost like driving on rocks.

Do you have a part number for the Torsen LSD?

The drivetrain in the GLH just won't die, but when it does I have a TII engine and 520 trans waiting.
The other thing it needs are some better tires.
Suspension tweaks are in the works.

Just uploaded my go pro vids. This was the first time that car had been out on that suspension/tires when it wasn't raining, so I was a bit more conservative on the heat 1 passes (which are the in car vids) to make sure I didn't end up in a tree, pond or fence. :-) I wish I could have figured out that last corner. I bombed that on 4 out of my 6 runs.

It was a blast autocrossing with everyone. Hope we can do it again next year!

Do you have a part number for the Torsen LSD?

I don't have a part number, as both of the OBX units I've purchased came from group buys in the Chicago chapter club. If you do a search, it's the same unit for a first Gen Neon (and maybe later models as well). I believe both Cindy and Chris sell the correct unit on their websites. One thing to note is you may need to hone the ID of the tapered roller inner bearing race, as both of mine were such a tight press fit that it was challenging to slide in the axles once the bearings were installed. Also, take the thing apart and check all the washers/bolts and torque everything correctly when it goes back together. There should be several threads on here with all of this detailed out.

So you were the one driving through the grass! What kind of tires were you running? It seemed like both of us had the right power level to keep the car under control and keep everything smooth. I am always told that you need to slow down to go faster in autox.

Ha ha...yes, that was me. At one point I thought that would be the quickest way to the next corner and figured why not? Probably didn't help my entrance into that last corner though. Lol!

I had kuhmo v710's on it. Boost was about 11psi. Not overpowering but enough. I really need to improve my throttle modulation and braking.

Clark...what kind of alignment do you run and with what tires?

I have some V710's from 2008 on the front, and some V710's from 2005 on the rear. Some people would say 9 year old tires aren't any good, but I have no complaints. My previous Victoracers were from 1995!

The rear alignment is stock, and the front is set as negative as the factory adjustment will allow, something around 1.5 degrees or so. I've never actually had it on an alignment rack. Toe is straight ahead, or slightly out. I've been running the rear konis on full soft lately in an effort to keep the rear tires on the ground better.

An album for Group 2 Run 1 (http://josh-bryant.artistwebsites.com/art/all/sdac-24+-+autox+-+group+2/all) is now up. There are approximately 10 pictures of each car's first run for this group (excluding the winner Clark Krieger, his are all in their own album, link in Post #6). By this time I had abandoned the tri-pod and climbed up in the tree.
