Rather then hijacking other threads with our progress on Pearl I figured it would be best to just start a new one here.

1988 Consulier GTP-LX
Purchase Date- 1-6-14
20k miles
Named "Pearl" by original owner

First off, I would like to shout out a BIG THANK YOU to Mike Wah for providing me with the opportunity to own this piece of automotive history. If it wasn't for Mike and some serious encouragement by Johnny  I would have never even considered it.

We are anxiously following Mike's progress with Frankenstein and if all goes well we will start the upgrades followed by dyno results in the upcoming months. Seeing all the fun Mike and Brian are having though is making it more difficult to wait  Fortunately, there are multiple projects going on in and around the shop right now to distract us.

We were able to track down the original owner of the car through Warren's FB page. Russ, was nice enough to provide me with a few photos of when he first received Pearl and I will add a few pics of what she looks like today later on.

Here are our baseline dyno pulls. The only changes that we did was removing the SuperTrap muffler so we could use the wideband and we replaced the gutted out 2.25" cat converter with a new one. There was a performance computer chip from back in the day installed when we received her.

Thanks!

nice baseline pulls. Bet you can't wait to get some fuel out of it and see what she'll do.

Back at ya Doug.

Chris, Im glad to help make the introduction and may I say Pearl is in terrific hands. Look at those stock wheels. 3 different variations and all screaming 80's baby!

SDAC 24 or bust!

Got to subscribe to this and stay informed. Maybe I'll find one of my own under the Christmas tree in some future year!

Chris offered me the honor of driving this car while visiting Phoenix a few weeks ago.
It really wasn't what I would expected. With what little I know about these cars, I expected from the light vehicle weight and performance legends that the ride would be harsh and punishing. That was not the case at all. The car was very composed. Firm, but comfortable.

For being as stock as the drivetrain is, the car really does not feel lacking in power at all. I don't like to beat on cars as a guest driver, but when Chris got behind the wheel he took some interchanges at a spirited pace. and it feels like it has no limits in cornering.

Fun car for sure!
Thanks for the experience Chris!!

The previous owner of Pearl sent me a few nostalgic photos of Mosler in it's prime. Hopefully there are more to come. Thanks Russ!!

ENJOY!!!

Just looking at spoilers yesterday :)

Thanks for sharing Chris. So is that Johnny's car or is that Ken? Because the pic of that car has a top on it. Did they lose the top?

It is Barbie! Ken was a roadster, not a targa. And Ken had teal circles, where barbie has the pink ones.
The top...I was told they never made one for it. But I see they did. Don't know what happened to it :(

Chris - can you find out when picture 5 was taken? It appears to be a t3 car because of the engine cover scoop but also could be a v8 intruder. I'm just curious is all

It's in one of the containers Johnny. Buy them all for $10,000 and you MAY find it. Of course no guarantees because I'm sure Ian will look for it and remove it before hand :)

I have that song, on the sound track CD, in the CD player on Barbie right now.

- - - Updated - - -

I think the black is better, makes the rear less big looking.

- - - Updated - - -

Also needs the words "CONSULIER" in black on the side under the door area like it used to have..

I need "Consulier GTP" somwhere on the car also.....It won't stop people from asking but it will give them a visual.

Find a blue vinyl to match the car and have in under the door in the black area.

BIG Thanks to Johnny for spotting this article someone wrote on Pearl. Photos were taken at the Cars and Coffee in Scottsdale back in June.

Aside from the production numbers the write up was fairly accurate. It even included a link to an older article done on Pearl at Carlisle.

Same guy wrote an article on AZShadow's Horizon here: http://www.generationhighoutput.com/1986-plymouth-horizon-turbo-swap-the-ultimate-sleeper/

THANKS again Johnny!!!

That's a great video. I recognize a lot of stuff from meeting Mike there a short while ago. Cool car.
